| I've raised an amazing kid who just made captain of the cheer squad for 8th grade! I never even made the team! I've been a good friend to some very good people...except for being late all the time. That's why these people are good. They understand that I am time- and map-challenged and they don't take it personally. I've gone to school this whole time slow but steady amidst all the kid-raising, the work, the volunteering--all the while maintaining a nearly 4.0 GPA and sticking with the same degree plan the whole time. I've got a few more hours left which are on hold because of wedding planning. In 1999, former Governor Bush honored me as one of three individuals in Texas doing neat environmental education work. I was appointed to serve as a grant reviewer for Former Governor Bush's Reading Iniative. Mayors Lanier and Brown honored my work in chairing the education committee of the largest America Recycles Day celebration in the nation (Houston's event) for four years. I founded the EnvirOlympics and a city-wide shoe reycling drive. I chaired the KRBE Earth Day Festival for two years which made over $50,000 for the Citizens' Environmental Coalition, on which I've served as a trustee for three years. I volunteer with my daughter at a local animal shelter. I recently decorated my daughter's bathroom without screwing it up. It's very funky and fishy. I sculpted a piece for an art history class that I call "Little Ugly Girl." I love her. She is my only sculpture. (Strike a pose, Little Ugly Girl!) |
