Art and beauty; Toronto�s Sarah Slean expertly merges the two on her debut EP Universe (P.O. Box 56, 492 Bloor St. West, Toronto, ON, M5S 1X8, CANADA [address updated]).
Slean drivers her tunes from a piano bench and steers them into moody, minor key terrain, scrupulously avoiding all exits marked "same old, same old." The only thing wrong with Slean�s dark, evocative Universe is that at six songs, it�s too short by half.
