Juno-nominated recording artist Sarah Slean and Arts & Crafts Art Director Louise Upperton present an exhibition of the "sinister, peculiar and tenderly psychotic" at Toronto's own SPIN Gallery. BLEAK HOUSE is an imaginative landscape of mysterious narratives with a slightly twisted Victorian aesthetic. Borrowing the show's title from a Dickens' novel, the artists believe it describes the nostalgic yet troublesome world of their works. Their methods and materials differ, but the signature blend of charm and horror, both artists share.
A portion of the proceeds from this exhibit will be donated to The Royal Conservatory of Music's "Community School Outreach" program. The program is a special initiative designed to provide three of Toronto's most at-risk communities with access to instruments, private musical instruction, concerts, and workshops.
