Twenty-one-year-old University of Toronto music student Sarah Slean has more than homework on her mind. She's just signed a co-venture deal between Atlantic and Warner Music Canada which will see the intense, piano-based singer-songwriter produce a full-length indie follow-up to her debut EP Universe (as of this writing due sometime in February), followed by her first major label effort sometime in 2000. Good friend -- and ACCESS cover girl Emm Gryner -- says of Sarah: "She's very bright, and she knows what she's doing. I basically just opened the door to her to say, 'You're going to come across some interesting moments, and when you want to talk about them, I'm here.' I totally support her and...assume a sort of big sister role sometimes with her, because I love her music so much."
