What we are all about

Documentation process

The intent of the website is to give the uncle a site to help promote his plumbing business and reach a younger clientele, one who might not use the yellow pages to find a business. I worked with the layout to help draw the eye and make it seem like it would be fun to hire this plumber versus another company. I also wanted to make this a simple site so that the user knows what the company offers, and how much it will cost.

Defense of the final product

I choose the Mario theme for the site because the company is a plumbing business, and Mario is a very iconic video game character that would make a fun website. For each page I wanted the same stable background and theme, so that it would not over power the site itself with too many visuals because Mario is a very rich visual world. The color for most of the text comes from the Mario universe, the gold lays on top of the brick Navigation bar and the bright neon green sits on the blue of the sky best without pulling off of the bottom of the background picture. I wanted the end user to see the Mario background and think of the video game background, but still wanted a large clean space for the important items of the site to be placed. I believe that I was able to strike a balance for the bright fun of Mario and the straightforward information that is put into the site. To do this, I choose to use one background for each page, instead of a different one. This allowed me to keep the fun of Mario, without over powering the end user visually.

Opportunities for Improved Growth

I would have liked to make the images on each page interact when the mouse hovers or clicks on it. Something like that would make the site fun, without distracting from the information of the site. I would also like to add in a small Mario game for one of the pages, and just more interactive elements, kind of like the vague web page where you do a certain keystroke combination and a surprise element pops up.
