As I grew up, my childhood urge to draw and paint never left me.  In highschool I worked at a stained glass supply store and delved into the magical world of stained glass.  In my senior year of highschool I took 2 independent study ceramics classes at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis.  That was my only formal art education until I was accepted to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2001.  I attended as a fine art painting major for three years and dropped out.  The fine art department could not understand that I did not want to make abstract expressionist paintings; nor could they understand that just because I had my own personal concerns for the environment, that did not mean that I was trying to guilt my audience.  Since dropping out of MCAD in 2004 I have continued to paint, draw and create.  I don't think I could stop, but there have been definite lulls in productivity... it is hard to want to paint after a 40 hour workweek!  For me, wanting to live for the Earth and myself is also tied in with wanting to have the time to do what I

want creatively...I plan on doing some more sewing soon too, with the help of my beautiful new sewing machine which my sweet mommy bought me! Here is some recent artwork from here and there... 2007 This is the t-shirt I designed for the "Brimson Sisu" footrace/walk.  There are a lot of Finnish people in the area, and Sisu is a Finnish term for endurance and perseverance.  They have a new design every year featuring an animal from the area - 2007 was the year of the Pileated Woodpecker!

2007  Pencil on Paper.  Sisu the semi-blind husky, dreaming on the couch... unfortunately she is not our doggy! Cutest little Sisu...

2008 Ink Drawing.  This tree was outside our trailer in Maryland.  Shortly after I drew this we realized a shiny black squirrel was living in the knot toward the top of the tree. Soon she had 3 baby squirrels!  They would run all around and play on the tree and we'd sit on our couch and watch them...2 babies were grey and 1 was black like their mother.

2009 Pencil on Paper.  Deer sleeping in the snow at 6:40 am!  For those of you who do not know, deer make little pits in the snow which they sleep in!  This was drawn from memory... one of the most adorable things I have ever seen!!!
