Lisa Marie Diane Kudrow was born July 30th, 1963 in Encino, California. Her father (Lee Kudrow)was a physician and her mother a travel agent (Nedra Kudrow). Lisa was raised in Tarzana with her two brothers and her sister. She played varsity-level tennis in high school and college and is also a pool pro! Lisa graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie where she earned a bachelor degree in biology.

At first she wanted to pursue a job in research, so she returned to L.A. to work with her father. Lisa got inspired by her brothers friend, who was comedian, so she entered show-biz. Lisa auditioned for the improv theatre group The groundlings, based in L.A., where ahe was taken under the wing of Cynthia Szigeti, a well known improv teacher. In 1989 she graduated with honours and became a full-fledged member of The Groundlings.

Breaking into TV, Lisa got the role of Ursula a waitress in the serie "Mad about you". This brought Lisa to the new tv-show FRIENDS. In the deut season of FRIENDS (1994-1995) Lisa earned an Emmy nomination as an outstanding supporting actress. In 1998 she finally won that Emmy for the role as Phoebe Bouffay.

Lisa has also been nominated for a Golden Globe, Screeen Actors guild and American comedy awards for her preformances. Lisa has had a lot of success on screen.

In 1997 she starred in "Romy and Michelles high school reunion" next to oscar winner Mira Sorvino. Lisa earned even more praise for her work in movies when she got the New York critics award for her preformance in "The opposite of sex".

Lisa got married to Michael Stern on May 27, 1998. They even got a child called Julian Moore. They live together in Los Angeles.
