| Courteney Bass Cox Arquette was born June 15th , 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama. She grew up with her brother and her two sisters. Courteneys parents got divorced when she was 10. She stayed with her mother who got married again in 1976. Her father also got remarried and moved to Florida. She started studying architecture/ interior decoration in the Mount Vernon college, Washington after graduating from Mountain Brook high school Birmingham in 1982. In the holidays she went to New YYork and sigend a contract for Ford modelling agency. After some shoots for several magazines she also in television commercials. Courteney made her acting-debut in 1984 on the soap "As the world turns" and later she casted for the video "Dancing in the dark". This video opened her many doors for her career. Her first well known work as an actress was on "Family ties" in 1987 as the girlfriend of Michael J. Fox. She also starred in a few movies which were dissapointing. SHe had her first success when she played in "Ace Ventura: Pet detective" next to Jim Carrey. Her stage work includes "King of hearts" at the Tiffany theatre in Los Angeles(1989). The break-through to a star was when she started FRIENDS (1994) as Monica Geller. She originally auditioned for Rachel (and Jennifer for Monica), but she convinced the producers to give her the role of Monica instead. Her biggest movie success was in the film Scream, where she met David Arquette to whom she got engaged in summer 1998 during the shooting and later married to on June 12th, 1999. |
