I was born on 25th May 1977 in Kottur Malayandipattanam, a small village in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu, India. My Father (Late) Mr. T. Kadhirvel worked as a Village Administrative Officer and my mother Mrs. Rajeswari Kadhirvel is a house wife. I have one younger brother Mr. K. Senkottuvelan; he finished his Masters in Integrated Biology, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India and now he is doing his Doctoral research in Medical Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Tohoku University, Japan. My wife Ponni Padmaja, a Computer Science Engineer, is working as a Software Engineer in Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, Lund. We are blessed with a boy baby Siddharth Vamanan in Oct 2008.
Basically a Physicist, I started my Doctoral research in Macromolecular Crystallography and Computational Molecular Biology under the guidance of Prof. Dr. M.N. Ponnuswamy, in the Department of Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras in June 2000 and successfully completed my Doctoral degree in July 2006. At present I am working as a Post-Doctoral Scientist in the Department of Molecular Biophysics, Center for Molecular Protein Science, Lund University, Sweden. My works involves in determination of the three-dimensional structures of proteins, involved in Human Neurodegenerative disorders, using X-ray crystallography and investigate their structural / functional behaviours. |
