A Chemical Change, on the other hand, occurs when the chemical identity of a substance is altered or destroyed and a new substance is created. The burning of gasoline in the presence of oxygen gives out carbon dioxide and water. The gasoline is completely destroyed and new are substances created. This chemical change is also called a chemical reaction. A listing of all the possible chemical reactions of a substance is called its chemical properties.
