NESHAMAH/RAPTURE
OF THE MEEK
BLOOD
AND INK
Toastee -
Yup. The time has finally come.
We finally decided to write a
little review about the cXt
Hardcore Heroes. Neshamah. I
haven't had time to listen to
this CD allot, cause I haven't
been able to steal it out of
AM's room, so make sure you read
AM's review too. But the songs
rock esp. Runs deep, this
CD may just be shifting the
boundries of SA hXc. But I can't
even imagine how a split release
like this is even possible!
Personally I believe that these
guys only get a 1000th of the
support that they are entitled
to from there scene. So stop
being so lazy and get your ass
to the next gig that they are
playing at. There are copies of
this CD available at our merch/distro
page, contact me at [email protected]
for more info. Peace.

Although
Neshamah is known for their
stage performance, their album
has seen great success since it
started selling here just after
their US tour. It differs
greatly from their previous
albums in a way only hardcore
Neshamah listeners (Like me) can
notice. Rapture of the Meek,
their “counterparts” in the
US, also feature greatly on the
album. With Neshamah’s songs
ranging between 1min 49sec and
3min 53sec, the length of their
songs has increased somewhat.
This provides for longer
listening hours!I like Guidance
and Runs Deep a lot.
It, I feel, radiates
Neshamah’s true feelings.
Together with the other songs,
it creates a truly explosive
atmosphere and, if you haven’t
seen them live, it gives you a
small taste of the energy that
they release.This is the first
time I heard of Rapture of the
Meek, however, they sound just
as explosive as Neshamah. I
quite enjoyed the energetic
lead-guitar in Manifestation
and the simplicity of The
Stage. The albums layout
design is at first, quite
shocking (The deformed faces
look almost revolting), but
after reading the lyrics,
you’ll notice what it’s all
about… |

SMUG - and the
struggle continues ...
REJECT RECORDS
Toastee -
I
just
bought this CD recently. Before
that I had heard of this band,
but I had no idea how they
sounded. I must say that they
had surpassed my highest
expectations with ease, with
there rather unique sound. Although
it is hard to identify their
influences. They produced a new
sound of that is there own and
the songs on this debut album is
really fun to listen to. If you
like your punk with a dose of
ska, then what are you waiting
for? |

X
TOUR 2003
ORGANIZED
BY SOLARPOP.COM
Action Man -
I was at Boogaloos
Tygervalley on 30 August 2003
and had the privilege of seeing
some of the best local hxc bands
around. The X-Tour hosted bands
like Neshamah, 5 Star Society,
Not Guilty, Six of Nine, Serving
Suggestion, Sidearm 66 and last,
but not least, Flint. Although
not all of them played at each
venue, the atmosphere was held
up well by the bands that did
play.
Entertainment for all was their
motto! There was! For the geeks
among us, there were
Playstations and for the rest of
us, there were the bands.
However, there was no
entertainment for the druggies
and alcoholics as it was a drug-
and alcohol-free environment.
Not only could you buy merch,
CD’s and lots of cool stuff,
but you could also win it if
you’re lucky. There were
giveaways and Silent Screams
merch-stalls at each venue where
you could buy and support the
local bands. There were lots of
people at all the shows and the
crowd did go wild! The moshpits
were huge, the skanking was
energetic and the bands were
amazing! As
far as I know, it was the first
tour Neshamah went on after
their US tour and their new
album was also released. It was
also the first time Flint played
at most of those venues.
