| How I started in StarCraft | ||||||||
| Well, It all started 10 1/2 years ago. I played the demo of starcraft on a PC gamer cd I got when I was 12 years old. I played the demo Single player missions for a while, and had a lot of fun. Then I realized I could play on Battle.net. This battle.net thing was amazing to me, I had loads of fun playing Terran VS Terran on the byways map for quite a few months. After that I realized I could get the full version of the game, and immediately jumped on it. Of course that was as soon as my mother felt like buying the game for me ;-). The demo was great, I had a lot of fun using nukes and bc's and the great thing about it, just about every terran unit was used in a game of starcraft on the demo. The fun that I had was we would always take half of the map, no matter if you were on top, or bottom. I would have key defenses built up in certain spots of the byways map, protecting my whole half, and I would enjoy picking apart my opponents base. However, on many occasions it ended with who could produce the most marines in the start, as rushes were very common in the demo. Starcraft: Now came starcraft, and I had to play some of the single player missions and learn a little about each race. I can remember being just amazed that I could play as the Xenomorphs and they had a different name. I eventually logged on to battle.net and played some games. Of course, I had to stick with Terran, because thats all I knew. The fact is, I really didn't even know that all that well. I was beaten down on many occasions and I realized that it was going to be one long tough road :-P. After all, I could only play the game on weekends at my uncle's house. However, I spent night and day for 3 days on that game before going home. It was a lot of fun... The greatest thing about playing the game at my uncles is I played in a back room which had my uncles weed whacker in it. It always had a small smell of gas, and what do firebats say? "I love the smell of napalm" - Firebat Now, I know it wasn't napalm, however it gave it that extra feeling of being more part of the game than normal. Eventually, I would become a pretty decent player. Winning most of my games 2on2, on regular maps, and on BGH(Fastest maps didn't make an appearance until I wasn't playing much anymore, about 4-5yrs later). However, most of that was probably thanks to a great group of friends I had found one day. ~~Jeff~~ ~`JediKnight`~ Wahoogie `Travis` And a few others.. that I can't really remember their account names. Eventually, Wc3 Came out and most of my friends went to that, but at the time I couldn't get a computer that actually could run it smoothly, so I didn't play much. |
