 Best Wishes for 2009, Love and Peace BOSPOP - Weert 2008, 12th of July Coming from up-north Amsterdam-Vught to a small country-village Weert for a 2hrs Santana concert.It was very cloudy around the afternoon that saturday, but fortunately no rain during the concert. After more than an hour enjoying Santana's music with all that spectacular entourage concern their film & lightshow; it was dissapointing that we had to leave earlier. But anyway walking to the parking place under the blackdark sky with some nice,thin skyblue lines and a kind of quietness, all of a sudden the sound of(I believe) apache/dame tu amore penetrate the silence, it was "amazing"! Even though there was no more visual contact at the parking place,the sound did compensate.I insisted that we leave after this song. Because of the tinyness of the village Weert, Santana's music accompanied us while we're dryving to the highway. After all it was fine to end the day this way! Michael Franti is one of the many famous performers at Lowlands Festival, not only protest in his songs against the ruin of wars all over the world, but also went for three years to Iraq and Palestine to make a war-documentary about their daily life(the war-documentary "I know, I'm not alone" will be shown on the dutch MTV at September 10 at 23.00 pm). Short fragments from his documentary about visiting wounded children in a hospital and playing music for the US soldiers in Bagdad (with his song: "Bomb the world " at the background) was broadcasted on the saterday-eveningnews from NOS Journaal TV at 18.00hr and 20.00hr, 19th of August and to be seen at the NOS Journaal website. At Lowlands Festival (sold out) with 55.000 people for three/four days, a lots of music, debats and good, healthy food,Michael was also interviewed by the NOS-TV on saturday. He said among other things that he's not an idealist and did not believe that we can always live in peace and love, but we can try to kill each other a little less, that's why he try to aim his work at it. And the world should not make war with the poor people. From 18.00hr till prox.19.45hr Michael and his band Spearhead perform their music, a mix from hiphop, reggae, rock and soul. AHOY May 8 2006 Special guest, Salavador Santana Band, their music is kind a new. There were some nice sax, flute solo's, including Salvador's keyboard sound. Unfortunately for the people who stood in front,on the right side of the stage; some teen groupies were too loudly. Every time when Salvador or the sax player appeared on the big screen they screamed very loud. First it was amusing, but after many times, it became irritating. Everybody was relieved when they went to another spot before the Santana Band performed. Obvious there were some sound problems, it was like they want to start their schedule but fortunately after two songs Andy and Carlos making contact with the audience too. The setlist was the same like in 2004, except with a few new songs. Carlos'long version of Maria,Maria's intro sounded fabulous. Also the percussion, keyboard put up the tempo in their highs and lows with El Fuego, Smooth, Maria-Maria: the audience went wild!! The horn section gave all what they have and Benny jumped from time to time in the back with his bass; Andy worked hard on stage like the new member, Tommy. Dennis gave his remarkable drumsolo and now, without drinking at the same time.It was surprising that Michael Shrieve joined the show; he should be at least be introduced! Of course there were many good concerts after Santana's huge come-back, but I must admit for those who went to see the concerts in the 70's, they were the lucky ones to experience the fabulous highlights of Santana's music career. It started 00.15 till 01.45, with a legend, a diamond and 2005 awards winners, performers, host and presenters. Ricky Martin introduced Carlos Santana and after: Feeling you and Smooth, Ricky handed over the Legend Award to Carlos. Woodstock belonged to the US and the whole world, but Kralingse Bos Pop Festival was held in the Netherlands and in Europe.
