KAYONDO HAMDAN becomes the first Ugandan to qualify for the WORLD SCRABBLE CHAMPIONSHIPS, in the fairest and a probably most transparent tournament ever held in Uganda. He has proven beyond any reasonable doubt what he is capable of and the Scrabbling fraternity all the world over should be wary of him.
In Las Vegas, we believe he will upset opponent after opponent to win this country a second slot for future WSCs. That was the prayer of Mr. W Binyomo, a committee member of SAU and chairman of Namuwongo Scrabble Club.
Who is Kayondo Hamdan? He is a teacher by profession and specialises in strange words, like GIAOURS, MIAULED, MIAOUED and NIGELLA. He boasts of mastering 200 syndromes, now what do you do with such a man? Good luck.
The race for second reserve then began in earnest with Davis Kinene taking on Dr. Meko Godfrey.
