The tournament attracted players from Arua, Iganga, Masaka, Kyotera and Kampala. Other players from Gulu could not make it due to logistical constraints but promised to participate in future tournaments.
Mr. Tawoda Jonathan together with Davis Kinene, Kayondo Hamdan and Dr Godfrey Meko in that order made it to the second round. The second round, to be played on a knockout basis at YMCA Wandegeya will take place on the weekend of 18/8/2001.
The knockout will involve Tawoda playing five games with Dr. Meko while Kinene and Kayondo sort each other out. Finally, Tawoda or Meko will meet Kinene or Kayondo to get the overall winner who represents Uganda in WSC.
