Senior
Black (Shodan) Andrie was born on 24 April 1982 in
Potchefstroom in the old Western Transvaal now known as North West, South
Africa. Andrie started karate when he was 6
years old and join the then only Shotokan Karate club in the Vaal Triangle. Andrie tried other sport like Rugby,
Cricket, etc, but did not succeeded in being the best. He then tried cycling and
found that he has potential, so at the moment he is taking part in two types of
sport, Karate and Cycling. Andrie is Afrikaans speaking but prefers
English, as he believes that South Africa will be an English speaking country in
the near future. Aspirations: Andrie wants to become a professional
cyclist and or open his own Dojo, but that is a decision he will make later. Andrie says if he decides to go and
study after school it will possibly be as a scientist, pilot or doctor. When Andrie was small he dreamed of
being like Bruce Lee, but he does not think it is possible as he has been the
best ever and Andrie thinks that the only way forward is by studying. Achievements: Andrie attend all the South African
championships from 1992 to 1998. Andrie achieved bronze medal in 1993 and
silver in 1997 in Kumite. Grading History:
