Shihan James has competed in various Provincial, National and International events in South Africa and abroad. The following is a summary of the best achievements over the last few years as International Instructor.
In 1984 he was appointed “Best All-round Instructor” for Goju-Ryu
Karate Academy under the late Shihan Ben du Preez
During 1991 he won the Tenchikan South African Championships in both Kata and
Kumite under Shihan Hans Haupt.
During 1992 he won the Middle Heavy Weight International Kick Boxing Title
in the USA under the Global Martial Arts Federation in Full Contact under Kyoshi
James Dassault.
During 1992 he won the Global Martial Arts Federation Black Belt Kata
Division in the USA
During 1994 he was the runner up in the Sansei Goju-Ryu World
Championships in Miami, Florida, USA.
During 1997 and 1998 he won the World Karate Organization South African
Championships in Kata in the Masters Division
