Vision Statement

Scouting is "A vibrant and growing organization applying the Fundamental Principles of the Scout Movement, contributing to the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of the young people."

THE SCOUT MOTTO: Be Prepared

THE SCOUT SLOGAN: Do a good turn each day

THE CUB SCOUT LAW: A cub Scout always does his best, think of others before himself and does a good turn each day.

THE CUB SCOUT PROMISE: I promise that I will do my best. To do my duty to God and to my country. To help other people, and to keep the Cub Scout Law.

THE SCOUT LAW: A Scout is to be trusted.
A Scout is loyal.
A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout is a brother to all Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
A Scout makes good use of his time and is careful of his possessions.
A Scout has respect for himself and others.

THE SCOUT HANSHAKE: When Scouts meet, they greet each other in a special way. They shake with the left hand as a sign of brotherhood and trust. The left handshake comes to us from the Ashanti warriors whom Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, knew almost 100 years ago in West Africa. He saluted them with his right hand, but the Ashanti chiefs offered their left hands and said, "In our land only the bravest of the brave shake hands with the left hand, because to do so we must drop our shields and our protection."
The Ashantis knew of Baden-Powell's bravery because they had fought against him and with him, and they were proud to offer the left hand of bravery.
When you use the Scout salute and handshake, remember that they are signs of respect and courage. The left hand is also closer to the heart...

THE SCOUT SIGN:Hold together the three middle fingers up of the right hand and touch together the thumb and the little finger. Hold the hand straight up beside the head at shoulder level. The three upright fingers represent the three parts of the promise. The circle form with the thumb and the little finger represent the brotherhood of scouting around the world. The scout sign is used when making or renewing the promise.

THE SCOUT SALUTE: The Scout Salute is a sign of greeting, respect and courtesy. It is given in the following manner : Place the fingers of your right hand in position for the scout sign. Now raise the right arm to shoulder level and bend the arm smartly at the elbow till the forefinger touches the right eyebrow (or the edge of the beret). After the salute, the arm is brought down straight and smartly to the side. Note: When carrying a staff (in the right hand), the salute is given by bringing the left forearm (bent at the elbow) in a horizontal position across the body. The fingers show the Scout Sign, palm downwards and the finger just touches the staff. Scouts salute each other once a day. The first to see the other is the first to salute, irrespective of rank or age. Scouts also salute the National Flag and the Scout Flags.
