Cappadocia Vacation
Cappadocia is another of my favourite places to go in Turkey.  In fact, it is my number one destination.  I would head here before going to the sea.  There is an incredible sense of isolation and beauty that is unique to this region.  From the centuries old volcanic rock formations (tufa) that are an endless source of giggles from phalic-minded tourists ("yeah, yeah, okay, we get it.  They look like willies.  Get over it, already...") to the underground civilizations, the Ihlara valley, balloons floating by at sunrise and sunset, the outdoor museums at Goreme...  It is an experience like no other.  Actually, don't go.  I kinda like the fact that there are fewer tourists than in other places in Turkey...
View of the sunset through some rocks just outside of Goreme above.  To the right, a valley of the tufa rock formations on guided day tour (I couldn't go any other way - the area was too vast!). Below you can see how they are hollowed out and used for homes.
Cappadocia cannot be contained on one page.  Click here for more on Ihlara.
