Mission Statement

This Gallery site is dedicated to showing the relationship between mother and child in all of us...
in every country.

My inspiration for my art has always been "A Vision of Love." The faces of children, with expressive eyes, touched my heart. My journey became their journey... Through the use of my imagination and research , I was able to travel to many lands. As I painted this theme, my goal became apparent. By combining all cultures, I was able to convey a sense of peace, hope, love, and unity for the world.

Although I am primarily self-taught, I have been inspired by three famous women artists. The mother and child theme was the common thread woven throughout their paintings. Elizabeth Vigee Lebrun painted motherhood during the French Revolution. Mary Cassatt , an American Impressionist, specialized in maternal feelings. Northern California Artist, Grace Carpenter Hudson , painted with love the Pomo Indian children and their families. Sharing their vision, I chose to expand on this theme and paint people of all cultures.

Having done sculpture, I created compositions and designs with a three dimensional quality. My respect for the people I painted was reflected in their faces. The viewer could feel the empathy and love that stirred the artist to create these paintings.

My use of color evolved from watching glass fuse together when I enamelled jewelry. Later I used this technique in my backgrounds combining acrylic paint and colored pencils. The color range of the pencils fascinated me, so I experimented with their brilliance, as well as their adaptability. Together, the pencil and paint create an enamelled texture.

I have been very fortunate to follow my dream. As in the painting, "The Determined One," I chose never to give up! My recent publication of "Visions of Love," in a postcard format, 21 paintings reproduced, is the result of that vision, dream and determination...
