| In the slanted, venetian-skewed sunlight -there are moments exhaled in blue fusion. I've no criminal intent. Only an education under my professional belt, and music on the brain. I paint. I write. I love and love with abandon. Not because of smoke, but with it. I am loosed in a haze clear to the uninhibited, -the peeled from programming, -those abundant in free genius. You others: Get over it. Move on. Preach some other hate instead of fearing me. Catch a rapist! Cage the murder! I'm simply listening to Mozart, drinking Kool-Aid. Dan Shilton |

| Dan Shilton graduated from college on the President's List, a member of the National Creative Society and published in the fields of fiction and poetry. He doesn't claim his achievements to be because of the use of cannabis, but believes they may just be "only a testament, a fly in the ointment, against the 'you may never commit a crime, but you will never accomplish anything either" campaign used in the news. I'm personally very proud of Mr. Shilton and found Saturday Afternoon to be "more than words". I guess it's because I love education, music and poetry, I paint, I write, I smoke and "I love and love with abandon". Coincidentally, I also work dilligently for change so that no non-violent, loving individual be jailed or imprisoned because of this plant that is "hands down", by far, safer than alcohol. Police and our narcotics control system have better things to do. This poem and Mr. Shilton's excellent accomplishments have inspired me to offer The Marijuana Movement Creative Excellence Award. Take your place in 2005. Send in your related creations... music, art, writings, poetry, etc... you know, use your imagination! Sandy Cote The Marijuana Movement |
