| SCRYING MIRROR A piece of polished reflective stone or a mirror painted black that serves as a focal point for scrying. Also referred to as a magickal almadel. |
| SCRYING A form of divination in which one looks into a reflective surface such as a glass ball or crystal sphere to gain knowledge of the unseen. Any reflective black surface can also be used for this purpose. Black bowls filled with water are an ideal and easy scrying tool. |
| SANDERS, MAXINE The future wife of Alexander Sanders, "Sylvia" was born in 1946 in a rigid Catholic environment. Her mother, Doris Morris, who worked as a nurse befriended young Alexander hence creating a bridge of friendship between the sick boy and her daughter. Doris's membership in Subud, an Carrib-Indonesian cult, would again cause their paths to intertwine. At age 16, she would be initiated into Alexander's coven. The Queen of Witches would live a turbulent life of local harassment and harsh treatment from her own family. | SANDERS, ALEXANDER The founder of the Alexandrian path of Wicca. Verbius studied many forms of magick including Egyptian, Satanic, Abra-Melin, and the Qaballah. The proclaimed "King of Witches" lived a fast life in the media's eyes. His life ended from lung cancer in Hastings. He died more or less destitute. |
