


CCAE Minutes
Members Present: Annette Beck, Frances Armenta, Nikki Amaro, Charlotte Crandall, Janice Roselius, Glenda Lopez, Teresa Loftis, Shuping Wang, Lorraine Christie, Brenda Rivas, Ingrid Cardenas, Judy Judilla, Sofia Garcia, Larry Pete
I Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by the President, Annette Beck.
II Approval of Minutes:
Janice Roselius made a motion to approve the minutes. It was seconded by Judy Judilla. Motion passed.
III Treasurer’s Report:
Savings $3,579.82
Checking $917.46
Expenditures $80 Membership fees (Mary F. & Frank Y.)
Holiday Party $638.03 ($305 paid by members & guests + $175 approved by general meeting in November, total of $480.00)
Annette asked for motion to cover $158.03 of additional expenses that were encumbered for the Holiday Party. Brenda Rivas motioned to pay the difference. Charlotte Crandall seconded the motion. Motion was passed.
IV Committee Reports;
a) Fundraising Committee – Frances brought up Valentine’s Day and the selling of See’s Candy. Annette said that we need to order a minimum of 10 cases so we can get free delivery. We also consider selling lollipops. They sell for 50 cents each and we can make a 25 cent profit.
b) Membership Committee – Shuping reported on a new member, Shirley Linn. Welcome aboard.
c) Social Committee – The Christmas party was a success, based on the feedback of the attendees. Susan thanked the committee for all-their effort.
d) Awards Committee – Teresa said that in January, 2006, we will give one paid GED Award to a student. The student will be teacher recommended and should have been in class for 72 hours and able to pass the test on the first try. The student must also have a financial need and not receiving any other financial assistance.
December CCAE Awardees: Sofia Garcia – Classified and Susan Dela Cruz – Certificated.
V Old Business:
Southern Section Conference Update: Conference was a success. Attendees were Annette, Glenda, Teresa, Shuping, Susan, and Janice. Awardees were, Judy Judilla, Calco award for Teaching Excellence, Janice Roselius, Leadership award and Carmen Zapata, Meritorious Award We had a Chapter Party at Annette’s room on Saturday night.
Glenda stated the Book Fair did very well, the best ever $5,606. Janice said we can get more “Read Across” by Dr. Seuss to give out to the students. We need a volunteer to go to Scholastic warehouse to pick out the books. Sofia and Charlotte volunteered. Janice made a motion to reimburse the mileage at the district rate of anyone who will drive his/her truck to pick-up the books. Judy seconded it. Motioned carried
VI New Business:
a) May 4-5, 2006 is the State Conference in Sacramento. Glenda, our state secretary, would like to see more staff members attend it. Annette will get the administrator team’s input on how many can be sent.
Legislation Day – Annette and Teresa will go. The cost for the trip was tabled until January, 2006 as soon as we learn more.
Holiday Basket Raffle – Nikki Amaro won for her attendance at the meeting.
Opportunity Drawing - Frances Armenta won.
Next meeting is on Wednesday, January 11, 2006.
