a) Fundraising Committee – The Halloween raffle was a success earning $243.70. Teresa Loftis won the basket. She took a couple of items and donated back the rest of the items to be raffled off to the students. There is a sign-up sheet for the Thanksgiving basket in the staff lounge. We also need volunteers to sell tickets at different times.
b) Membership Committee – The Section is supposed to be sending us an updated list of CCAE members. We are still accepting new members. Let the committee know if your membership card hasn’t been received.
c) Social Committee – Meeting held on Nov. 7. There was a suggestion that Leonard’s Catering do the catering for the Holiday Party. Heck inquired with Leonard’s and they will do it for $10 per person. It was also suggested that members pay $5 and CCAE pick up the other $5. Non-members will pay $10. Brenda Rivas made a motion to allocate $5 for attending members and $50 for miscellaneous items, seconded by Dr. P. Menu is as follows: BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, hot links, potato salad, baked beans and rolls. Everyone will bring his favorite drinks. Water, soda & dessert will be provided by CCAE. Sofia & Al will be in charge of games. Jennifer O’s house is party venue.
d) Awards Committee – Marcia Lewis informed that there are 7 applications. We have allocated $1200 for awards. There was discussion on whether we can offer GED scholarships. Students need to have a teacher recommendation and be able to pass the test on the first try. They also shouldn’t be on CALworkS. Marcia moved that $330 be used to cover GED scholarship, seconded by Janice. This will bring the Scholarship/Awards fund up to $1500.
In Kim’s absence, Annette presented the CCAE staff award. Discussion on whether to give a CCAE pin or movie tickets was brought up. It was decided to see if Mr. Dehrer could designate two parking spaces for the monthly winners. This month we are recognizing Magda Georges-Phillips & Mary Fitzgerald.
