 I        Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order by the president, Annette Beck.

II       Approval of Minutes:

Sofia Garcia made a motion to approve minutes, seconded by Charlotte Crandall. Motion passed.

III     Treasurer’s Report:  Frances Armenta reported on the following accounts:

            Checking          $1,119.11

            Savings             $3,571.72

IV      Committee Reports:

Fund Raising Committee:  Frances Armenta advised that a sign-up sheet for donations for the Halloween basket was in place in the staff lounge. Glenda asked where money from the raffle will go and suggested to advertise that the proceeds will go to CCAE students’ scholarship fund so they will be motivated to support the raffle.

Membership Committee: Shuping Wang stated that she has mailed the checks that were given her to the State. Membership cards should be received within the month. Teresa advised members who are on payroll deduction to check their pay stubs to make sure payroll is deducting the right amount.

Social Committee: Susan Dela Cruz requested help to decorate the staff lounge for the potluck on October 21st. There were a lot of volunteers who will bring in Halloween décor. Lorrie, Charlotte, Judy, Glenda, Shuping, Nikki, Annette and Al will bring decorations. In preparation for the potluck, the Social Committee had a meeting on 9-23 @ 11:30 A.M.  Sub-committees for the potluck included games (Al & Sofia), prizes (Judy) and decoration (Carmen Castillo). We need a house for our Christmas party. A poster was set at the staff lounge to call our members’ attention to our plight. We have had some responses.

Sunshine Committee:  Many thanks to Mary Fitzgerald for sending birthday cards to the birthday celebrants and other special occasions to CCAE members. Keep reporting those milestones to the Sunshine Committee. Teresa Loftis has some volunteers for publicity and scholarship. They are Magda Phillips-George, Charlotte Crandall and Lorrie Christie.

Awards Committee:  Kim Eatmon will put nomination forms in the mailbox so we can start nominating for three award categories, Leadership, Meritorious and CALCO Teacher for the Southern Section Award.

V       Old Business:

The discussion about how other CCAE chapters pay for their members to attend conferences was brought up.  Annette Beck found out that the Chapters do special fundraisers for conferences. The money is then allocated first to CCAE board members, and then whatever is left is divided equally among other CCAE members.

VI      New Business:

Annette Beck talked about the State conference in Sacramento in May and explained the situation about substitutes within the school and wanted to know who would be interested in going.

Legislation Issues – Reminded everyone to vote on November 8th and to check CCAE website for the three propositions that are affecting teachers, 74, 75, & 76.  Shuping also passed out information about the propositions.

Respectfully submitted by:

Susan M. Dela Cruz
