CCAE General Meeting Minutes

 

May 17, 2006

Members Present:  Annette Beck, Frances Armenta, Nikki Amaro, Charlotte Crandall,  Gary Dehrer, Glenda Lopez, Catherine Saldana, Shuping Wang, Lorraine Christie, Ingrid Cardenas, Susan Dela Cruz, Teresa Loftis, and Jennifer Oberhelman 

I           Call to Order:

            The meeting was called to order at 2:35 p.m.., by the President, Annette Beck.

II         Approval of Minutes:

Jennifer Oberhelman made a motion to approve the minutes. It was seconded by Charlotte Crandall.  Motion passed.

III        Treasurer’s Report:

            Savings             $ 3595.90

  Checking         $ 4841.72           

IV        Committee Reports;

a)   Fundraising Committee  -  No more fundraising scheduled for this school year.

b)    Membership Committee – Annette said that all sesquicentennial members’ names were listed in the State Conference Program. If your name is not in the list, let Shuping know.

c)    Social Committee – The Installation of new board members will be on June 2, Friday. Everyone who wants to attend will please give $20 to Frances. The room reserved for us has only 38 seats.    It will be at the Lotus Garden on Hospitality Lane, from 6:00 P.M. until…

d)    Awards Committee – Teresa announced that a student’s purse was stolen. The student needs her Oregon Birth Certificate to get the ID. Without the ID, the student cannot take the GED test. Nikki stated that Marcia is checking     scholarship qualifications.    

e)    Nomination Committee – Annette stated that Glenda has taken the section level office of President-Elect. Therefore, we needed to nominate and elect a new President-Elect for our chapter. The following nominations were submitted for CCAE president-elect. Jenny Dela Rosa, Karen Castille, and Jennifer Oberhelman. Glenda nominated Charlotte Crandall, who graciously said “not this time.”

Teresa announced the Awardees for the month of May : Joyce Lakes, classified and Annette Beck, certificated.

V         Old Business:

State Conference in Sacramento – Annette shared some of the things she received from the conference.  Carmen Zapata and Judy Judilla received awards. The next State Conference will be held in Fresno on May 3-5, 2007 at the Radisson Hotel.

VI        New Business:

New Section Board Members: Charlene Bader-President from La Mesa, Glenda Lopez-President-Elect, Brian Head-Vice President from Escondido.  Open positions are the treasurer who will be from the South and secretary who will be from the North. Section membership rebate check was given to Frances.  Glenda stated that career and vocational is where education is going.

CCAE will present an Exemplary Member Award for a member who has done “over and above” the call of duty. The name will be announced on June 2, at the Installation Dinner. Annette asked if we need another meeting on June 9. Everything seemed to be in order and no meeting is necessary.
