IV Committee Reports:
Frances Armenta: We’ve had good luck with the easy profit. Heck Thomas will have the rummage sale on May 6th, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.. We need teacher volunteers to at least, drop by. Charlotte will be in early (6:00 a.m.) Frances will be there at 9 a.m. We need a commitment from our fellow teachers to help Heck because a few CCAE members are attending the CCAE Conference in Sacramento from May 3 to May 6. Sign-up sheets will be sent out.
ShupingWang: No new members; all the members should have received a CCAE bulletin last week to ensure that you are a member. If you haven’t received any bulletin, check with Shuping so she can find out if your dues have been received and properly credited. There is a push for the sesquicentennial pin, which is being sold for $150.
Susan Dela Cruz: Installation of Officers is on June 2nd. The banquet will be at Lotus Garden, on Hospitality Lane. $20 per person, cut-off date is May 15. Please give your money to Frances.
Teresa Loftis: Teresa gave away a scholarship this morning. She requested that teachers get involved. We want to give this to eligible students. The criteria are:
(1) low income (2) 70 hours attendance (3) should have the teacher’s ok
Annette suggested to make posters that the students will understand. Spell it out to them. Advertise with emphasis on eligibility. Cal-Works students are not eligible.
Annette stated that CCAE has done well in its fundraising and we have money for the awards. There was discussion about raising the amount of awards by $1000. CCAE will determine the total amount and break it out with a minimum of $200 for six scholarships. Ingrid said that $200 is a good amount. Frances moved to allocate another $1000 for scholarship. It was seconded by Brenda. Everyone agreed…motion passed. We have allocated a total of $2500 for scholarship with $300 going to Heck to use for volunteer’s award, Heck will determine who will get the volunteer awards.
Kim Eatmon: In Kim’s absence, Annette announced the nominations for the Board of Directors: Glenda Lopez for president-elect, Mary Fitzgerald & Susan Dela Cruz for vice president, Frances Armenta for treasurer, Carmen Zapata for secretary. We will know the result on Friday, April 21st.
