I           Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order by CCAE President, Annette Beck.

II         Approval of Minutes:

Niki Amaro made a motion to approve the minutes. Judy Judilla seconded. Motion passed.

III        Treasurer’s Report:

Frances Armenta reported –  Savings     $3,587.94

                                                                     Checking   $2,305.16

Annette made an appeal to CCAE members to help sell the remaining boxes. The candy boxes are assortments. Teachers/members can help by selling to their students in the classrooms. CCAE ordered 200 boxes. We’re making $2 per box.

IV        Committee Reports:

a)   Frances Armenta – Frances urged everyone to help sell the candies for Valentine’s Day.  We will be selling See’s Suckers when the Valentines candy is sold.

            b)   Shuping Wang – No new members at this time.

c)   Susan Dela Cruz – Judy Judilla was commended for being super sales person selling See’s candy for Valentine’s Day. The Social Committee will have a short meeting on Thursday (Feb 9) at 11:30 to plan the Spring pot-luck. Venue – TLC-Please bring your lunch.

d)        Awards – Teresa advised that a GED award is given each month. This month the lucky student is from Linda Cooper’s night class. There is one award per month to be given to GED students. The award pays for the test if the student has 70 hours. The student should fill out an application. By doing this, it shows student interest. A suggestion was made by Janice Roselius to have the information put on a poster.  This would inform a lot of students who do not know about the awards. The regular CCAE awards are open to other departments. Charlotte inquired about how many applications we have received and when we would be giving the CCAE awards.  Per Annette, awards will be given at the end of the year.  Student Awards Committee will be reviewing all applications.  We have set $1200 aside for financial awards.  Encourage students to fill out application once they have completed the program.

The January CCAE Employee of the Month are Larry Pete for certificated and Charlotte Crandall for classified. Congratulations!

V         Old Business:

Legislation Day is March13th; Annette and Teresa are going to attend. The Sunday before Leg Day is a full day of events starting 12 noon. Nikki Amaro questioned if students will be going. Annette stated in order for students to attend, the students had to be selected and prepared prior Leg Day.

VI        New Business:

By March 17, 2006, CCAE will nominate new officers.  Teresa Loftis is president-elect. If anyone is interested in being a CCAE officer, please let Kim Eatmon know.

Heck Thomas said the second Book Fair is coming up in March. This is the first time we have had a second book fair in the last four years ago. If this turns out to be a good moneymaker, we could use it for more scholarships.

Possible yard sale depends on volunteers. It is tough to do this in March because there are many conferences.

State Conference in May if anyone is interested, let Annette know so she can refer them first to their administrator. If administration cannot help, we’ll see if CCAE can. Teresa put information on the CCAE website. Regarding the State Art Contest, no information was received. Teresa said nothing had been received to publish on the State website.

Southern Section Meeting in Temecula next week – Annette and Janice will attend. The possibility of having a combined CCAE South Coast and Southern section conference in San Diego will be discussed. The South Coast Section and the Southern Section liked the previous conference in Palm Springs..

Congratulations to Glenda Lopez for being named new coordinator. Sofia Garcia said that there will be a celebration on Friday, February 10, after 3:00, at Las Palmas Restaurant. Everyone is invited.

Winner of the Opportunity Drawing – Teresa Loftis
