Castilian Spanish Verbs:
Lesson 7: Ser, estar, haber and ir

These are four irregular verbs which are useful to know.

Person ser 'I am (permanently)' estar 'I am (temporarily)' haber 'have (auxiliary)' ir 'go'
1S 'I' soy 'I am' estoy 'I am' he 'I have' voy 'I go'
2S 'you (singular)' eres 'you are' estás 'you are' has 'you have' vas 'you go'
3S 'he/she/it' es 'he is' está 'he is' ha 'he has' va 'he goes'
1P 'we' somos 'we are' estamos 'we are' hemos 'we have' vamos 'we go'
2P 'you (plural)' sois 'you are' estáis 'you are' habéis 'you have' váis 'you go'
3P 'they' son 'they are' están 'they are' han 'they have' van 'they go'

Estoy is pronounced estóy (accent on the last syllable) but the acute accent is not written.

The usual word for possession is tener, not haber. The main use of haber is forming the perfect, with the perfect participle:
ha esperado 'he/she/it has waited'
he aprendido el verbo 'I have learnt the verb'
