"It may not be located in the historic centre of Melaka, but travellers enthuse about this popular and comfy guesthouse ... forever smiling, tirelessly helpful and a goldmine of information, Somu and former schoolteacher Marcia are a delight. Samudra manages to be homely without the uncomfortable feeling that you're in someone else's house ... the ultimate Samudra experience is sitting down for a chat with the owners, then walking out armed with tips, maps, addresses and inspiration for the day ahead."

"Travellers enthuse about this popular and comfy guesthouse south of Jln TMR. Clean, quiet and run by very friendly and helpful owners, the Samudra Inn offers both comfort and value."
Lonely Planet - 2001 (Page 279)
"At the southern end of this street, Samudra Inn (282 7441) at No 348B has family-run lodgings that get high marks for friendliness from travelers. Single/doubles start from RM 18/20 with fan and common bath, or RM 35 and up for air-con with attached bath."

"We spent three nights in Malacca and had a really great time. We found this great guest house, Samudra Inn, that had huge rooms, was clean and had extremely friendly staff. It felt like we were staying in someone's house as there was a common loungroom/kitchen area and the staff could not do enough to make our stay comfortable."

"As I stepped off the bus, a kind, older man approached me and offered his "hostel" for the night. He showed me pictures, along with a "write-up" in Let's Go S.E. Asia, which stated that the Samudra Inn was run by a "friendly, former schoolteacher that spoke perfect English." I asked if he was the schoolteacher. He said yes. Thus, I jumped in his antique car and drove ten minutes to the hostel, which was in the colonial section of town. I was put in a clean, private room, in a newly renovated wing of the home. The Samudra Inn is simply a home....clean, comfortable, relaxing, safe, and conveniently located to all of the historic city's culture."
