The recommended download. This is the Russian firmware, but still has the English language and English T9 dictionary. Advantages of this firmware are installation of Java games, ring + vibrate at the same time, recording voice calls and custom alarm tones. This is one of the more recent firmware, as it is the 2nd release in July 2006. This file is in .7z format and so you will need 7-zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ to unzip it.

2nd release in July 2006 for the UK and Western Europe. This is in .ace zipped format.

1st release in July 2006 for China. This firmware is for the SGH-E908 phone, but the only difference is that it says E908 instead of E900 at startup.

.: Firmware Breakdown :.

Here I will explain how the firmware names are formulated, e.g. E900XEFG2, E900XXFF3. To make things easier to understand, we'll take the firmware of the SGH-E900 as example, e.g. E900XXFF2

Now this can be split into different sections:

So it then becomes:

We can now analysis this using the information above and the codes tables below:

----- ----- E900 - This is the model designated for the firmware, in this case it is SGH-E900.

----- [Location]

----- ----- XX - This is the branding type or country/region, which using the 'Country / Region Table' below, we can see that XX is for 'United Kingdom, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain'.

----- [Year]

----- ----- F - This is the year of the firmware release, which using the 'Release Year Table' below, we can see that F is for 2006.

----- [Month]

----- ----- F - This is the month of the firmware release, which using the 'Release Month Table' below, we can see that F is for June.

----- [Version]

-------- -- 2 - This is the revision number of the software in that month, so it is the 2nd release.

So, this firmware is for the Samsung SGH-E900 in 'United Kingdom, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain' and was the 2nd revision released in June 2006.

These tables can help in finding out the date and location of firmware. The Country / Region table is not a complete list, so if anyone know more codes, please contact me and ill update the list.
