Sampit Bassmasters of Georgetown, SC hosted the 22nd Annual Harborwalk Bass and Redfish Tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The fishing hours were from 6 a.m. - 4 p.m. The largemouth bass limit was five fish per boat and the redfish was 2 fish per boat.
The day was fill with excitement! We had 91 fishermen entered in this event. The winners in the largemouth bass division were:
1st Place David Carroll and James Squires of Conway, SC with 5 fish weighing 10.29 lbs. They also caught the Big Fish of the day weighing 5.61 lbs.
2nd Place went to Johnny Johnson and Lloyd Blanton also of Conway with 5 fish weighing 9.33 lbs.
The redfish division winners were won by local fishermen, Craig Sasser and Ernest Wallace of Georgetown with two fish weighing 9.28 lbs.Sasser also caught the Big Fish of the day weighing 4.99 lbs.
2nd Place went to Lavern Jacobs and Randy Crammer of Georgetown with 2 fish weighing 7.19 lbs.
The largemouth bass division paid ten places and red fish paid five. There were 22 redfish caught and 63 largemouth bass. Sixty bass were released back into the rivers of Georgetown County.
Sampit Bassmasters would like to thank all fishermen and volunteers who helped to make this event a success. Next year we hope to have four thousand dollar 1st place prize guaranteed.
