NEPAL
Mum coming to stay for 2 weeks !

The Himalayas.  Took a mountain flight around the east of the Himalayas, sighted the mighty Everest, and now have nuff respect for anyone who has the ability to summit it.

Arriving in Kathmandu on my birthday, and on the last day of a Hindu festival.  There were flags, decorations of all kinds, and children flying kites from their rooftops.

Meeting 2 English girls on the plane to Kathmandu, and them insisting we go out and get lashed cos its my birfdee.  Go to Club Dynasty (cool), get bought champagne by a Russian called Vlad (what else), watch the Nepalese dance in an eighties styleee, and thoroughly enjoy my first night in Nepal.

The Sadhus of Pashipatinath (pronounced Poshpottynot!).  Crazy dreads, sunglasses, and nudity.

The Sherpas.  Only very few Nepalese are actual 'sherpas', yet all Nepalese carry their goods in the same way - piled in a large basket, the strap of which is put over the head.  Therefore the bulk of the weight is taken on the neck and shoulders.

The buddhist influence.  Many buddhists have come across from Tibet, which makes for a very peaceful influence.  The stupas (tibetan buddhist temples) are circled clockwise by followers, who chant mantras and spin prayer wheels incessantly.

The white water rafting.  Great rivers (scary as hell though sometimes...see also DOWNERS) and wonderful scenery.

Having a social life.  Kathmandu has many bars and clubs.  The music is questionable, but its was better than nothing at all (i.e India).

Many sunsets over the mountains, and even a few very cold sunrises.

Achieving the Jomson Trek in the allotted 11 days.  Exxhausting, and some altitude  sickness on the way, yet amazing scenery, great smoke, and an unbeatable sense of achievement.  Next stop Everest......

Seeing the Kumari Goddess, the only 'living' Hindu Goddess.
