Travelling with Sonia (aka Sausage, Sonic, Wop, Stimpybuttcheeks, Brown Bird).

The unspoilt, idyllic paradise of the Andaman Islands.  Inhabited by ancient and hostile tribes, exotic lizards, crustaceans, fish (saw a dolphin), birds, butterflies, and spiders as big as your hand.

Ancient temples of Thanjavur.  At sunset, we watched flocks of birds continuously circling the tops of the temples....beautiful.

Spending an afternoon with an Indian family in their small village house, dressing up in saris, and  eating thali til it was coming out of our ears.

Kodaikanal hill station, set high up in the rainforest-covered mountains of Southern India.  Great apple  pie at Manna restaurant owned by Israel the eco-warrior, trekking at sunrise, and sunset in a golden coloured rainforest.

Overnight train journey from Tamil Nadu state to Kerala state - night fell upon a dry, dusty and flat plain.   We awoke in 'Coconut Country' - lush green landscape with palm trees as far as the eye could see, and  small rivers lined with village huts.  An amazing contrast in one short journey.

Snake Boat Festival in Kerala.  100 men in very long narrow boats, all chanting and powering their way  along the river.

Watching an elephant being cleaned with coconut husks for 2 hours by its owners.  And beholding its enormous willy.......
see pics2.

Scootering around the beautiful countryside of Goa (and staying in a suite in a 4 star hotel for less than  4 pounds per night.)

A week spent wandering stoned around the ancient kingdom of Hampi (aka Bedrock), and seeing my  first snake.

Riding in a red double decker bus, and eating a Maharajah Mac at Macdonalds in Bombay  (see
STOMACH CHURNING for the after effects).

Arriving in Rajasthan and seeing men wearing the traditional Rajasthani dress of a twisted red turban  (very unlike the Sikh turban), long white tunics with red sash, gold hooped earrings, twisted  moustaches, and gold toe curling shoes.

Watching the sunset over the dusty hills of Rajasthan, followed by the rising of a full moon.

Galloping (oh yes, galloping) on camels through the desert of Northern India, wearing pink turbans,  after eating space cookies (see also
DOWNERS).

The Taj Mahal.  Surely the most amazing manmade structure in the world.
