The New Victoria Theatre, Woking
Review from The Stage
by Alistair Smith

Husband and wife team Linda Lusardi and Sam Kane join forces to produce a consummately professional and wonderfully enjoyable evening of pantomime. From the fabulous Disney-esque sets to the tightly choreographed ensemble song and dance numbers, the production values are consistently high.
Even more impressive is the infectious sense of fun which the cast brings to the show. Lusardi, with her elaborate costume changes, dominates the stage as the wicked Queen Lucretia, cackling and abusing her long-suffering subjects and the audience.
Meanwhile Sam Kane, in his role as Prince Michael, makes the usually bland Prince so incredibly cheesy that he becomes rather fun. His direction is also superb and helps the script straddle the line between childish slapstick and knowing winks to adult audience members.
In fact, this is where the production most notably succeeds - in managing to entertain all ages. Kev Orkian, as the comic sidekick Muddles, keeps the laughs coming thick and fast and produces many of the shows highlights, skilfully engaging the audience with his banter and high jinx.
Emily Shaw as Snow White plays it whiter than white but rescues what could be a potentially uninspiring role with a beautiful singing voice and a couple of feisty dance numbers. Indeed, there isnt a weak link to be found anywhere, from the Wicked Queen to the seven dwarfs.

A slick production with great live music, large-scale dance numbers and a skilled and energetic cast.
