Sick Day, Part 6
By: Emily Waters
Tommy had finally finished up, and nodded to Carlos to indicate that he was ready to go. He seemed to have vented his anger, but God knows what was on his mind.
"Tommy, since we're out, we need to go see Walker. He's at the station, and I'm sure he'd like to know what's going on." Carlos explained as he drove toward the Texas Ranger station.

Katie saw the straight line and cried out, sending Doctors and Nurses running with a crash cart. They started yelling out terms that were foreign to her, and the unknown meanings made her even more afraid. She stood there, sobbing, as she was practically pushed out of the room. The doctors and nurses feverishly worked on her little boy, but all she could do was watch, and pray.

Carlos and Tommy quickly walked into the Ranger Station, heading straight for Walker's office. Walker looked up from his work.
"Hey Carlos, Tommy." He looked at their expressions. "What's wrong?"
"It's Trent. Walker, my hunch was right. He's got pneumonia, and he's in a coma, they don't know if he'll make it."
"What hospital is he in?"
"Dallas General."
"Okay, let's go." Walker grabbed a siren to put on Carlos' car. "And we can use this."

Butch and Kim walked into the ICU only to see commotion outside of Trent's room. Katie was sobbing at the doorway, Pastor Jones attempting to comfort her. They hurried their steps up to the doorway, both afraid of what was going to greet them.

Dr. Anjer knew it didn't look good for Trent. His vital signs were gone, as well as his pulse and breathing. He could only code for so long until his body permanently shut down, and there would be nothing they could do to save him. He looked over to the nurse that had been with Trent the through the whole ordeal, DaLana. She was working hard to get a pulse with him, but they both feared that the breaths Trent took before coding were his last. But of course nothing could stop them, that was their job.
"Clear!" Dr. Anjer yelled as he prepared to jolt Trent for the fifth time.
"Clear," a nurse replied.
He shocked Trent. Nothing happened. He sighed, but kept on working. He didn't want to lose this one.

Carlos stopped his car and the three got out and started to quickly walk to the hospital. They went up the elevator to the ICU, and pushed open the doors leading into the hallway. They saw the commotion outside Trent's room, and immediately feared the worst. They ran over to the doorway, not knowing what was about to happen.

Dr. Anjer sighed regretfully and put the shocks away. He knew there was nothing else they could do. He looked at DaLana.
"Tag it. Time of death, 5:34 PM."
