Sick Day Part 7
By: Emily Waters
Katie's eyes got big, and she felt her knees going weak. "No, no," she whispered. Her baby, her boy, he, he was gone.
Tommy had arrived just in time to witness his brother's last breath. His face registering shock, he slowly backed up until he was out of the room, and then turned and raced down the hall, not ready to face the fact that his brother was gone.
Walker witnessed the boy's departure and took off after them. "Tommy, Wait!!!"
Carlos gripped the railing outside of Trent's room, his knuckles turning white. His eyes filled with tears, and he didn't realize it when those tears started streaming down his grief stricken face.
Butch grabbed hold of Kim and pulled her close protectively. She buried her face in her hands, not ready to cry, but shocked.
Dr. Anjer knew he had no choice but to carry on with the difficult task of turning all the machines off. He instructed the nurses to take off the IV's and to turn off the machines. As DaLana knelt to unplug the Heart Monitor, Katie put her hand on her shoulder.
"Wait," She spoke softly. She knelt and gave Trent one last kiss on the cheek.
He felt something, Trent didn't know what it was, but he felt something. He was following the angels, but abruptly turned around at the touch.
He saw his mother, she was crying. And, for some reason, he couldn't keep going. He took a step, and then another.
DaLana looked on sadly at the scene in front of her. She had no clue as of what the mother was feeling.
Beep, Beep, Beep.
Katie gasped. Trent, he had moved. And the heart monitor, it was working.
Katie just stared with an open mouth. Was she seeing things?
"Mom?"
