Reflecting on 09-11-01

What happened on September 11, 2001 was a terrible thing. Thousands of innocent American lives were taken for no apparent reason. Everyone is saying that Osama Bin Laden was behind the attack, but I don't know what to think. I mean, all the evidence points to him, but the way the government is going about trying to arrest him isn't going to work, in my opinion.
But that really isn't the point of this essay, is it? This is supposed to be about how I feel about the incident, not the person who supposedly caused it.
As I said before, this was a terrible thing. The people working in those buildings were just going about their daily routine, minding their own buisness, and there is no logical reason for them to be victims of a terrorist attack. It is hard to comprehend exactly what happened, I think, since we're on the other side of the country and so far away from what really happened. But I was watching the news last night, and one woman on there made a good point by stating "They're on the east coast, and we're on the west coast, but we're still one country."
The boost of security on the military base was kind of annoying, mostly because no one could leave the base or get back on, making it incredibly hard for people to go to the mall or anything, or just to escape from all the emotions. Since this happened, every single house on my street now has an American flag flying out front. I saw on the news where K-Mart reported that their entire chain of stores was sold out flags of all kinds. The sudden boost of patriotism is really incredible, but I have a feeling that it might go out the window if we go in to war, and people start to get drafted. People don't want their families to be taken away from them, and that is exactly what might happen.
My dad is in the military and half of his squadron was deployed yesterday, to some base I've never heard of. They're also talking about deploying the rest of them.

And...then...I ran out of time. But you get the point, right? Right. Okay.
