Homecoming Week

This week, October 8th through the 12th, is Homecoming Week at Vanden High School. This page is just basically a summary of what's going on, what the themes are, and things like that.

[Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday]

Monday

Monday was "Survivor Day" or something like that. Basically, you had to wear clothes like you'd just been shipwrecked, or yellow. I was walking to class and everywhere I looked, there were people with torn-up clothes and holes everywhere and even some fake blood. I had no idea what was going on, so it was kind of scary. Someone finally explained and I felt bad that I didn't dress up. I think I'm going to do something tomorrow, though. They but big paper dinosaur footprints in the front of the school, but my friends and I thought it was kind of pointless without a big paper dinosaur to go with them. But we're not complaining. We just thought it would have been cool.

Tuesday

Tuesday is "Island Campout," and everyone is supposed to wear their pajamas or all black. And trust me, everyone did. Well, almost. There's still the few (like me) who refuse to have any school spirit or just don't want to wear their pajamas to school. I, presonally, forgot where my pajama pants were. So, yeah. but almost everyone I've seen today is wearing baggy, comfy pants and short tight shirt (or oversized t-shirts). Man, do they look comfortable. This is definitely the best day of Spirit Week. And I missed out on it!

Wednesday

Wednesday is "Island Adventures." We're supposed to wear Safari or Tropical clothes, or we could wear white. Something tells me most people are going to stick with the "white" aspect. Not nearly as many people dressed up today as on Tuesday. There were some people walking around wearing hawaiian shirts, and some were wearing flower necklaces, but it still didn't look like much. Then again, maybe it just looks that way because they all blend in. There are people who wear Hawaiian shirts to school on a regular basis, and half of the other stuff they wore fits in, too. So there are probably a lot more people dressed up than there appears to be, they just blend in with everyone else. I think they should have picked something a bit more noticeable. Once again, not complaining.

Thursday

Thursday is "Search And Rescue" day. You can eaither wear grey or "military, nurse, doctor, lifeguards, police, fire, superhero, etc..." I'm wondering about that "superhero" thing...Hardly anyone dressed up today, compared to all the other days! It's really weird. There are a few people dressed as military or firemen or police. And there are a couple people dressed as superheros. My favorites were the guy in my math class dressed as Spiderman, and the guy dressed at Quailman. Spiderman looked cool, and he had silly string, but the teachers took it away. They kill all the fun. Quailman was the funniest, he even had the belt on his head. And of course, the underwear outside of his pants. Very....interesting.

Friday

Friday is Victory Day. We have to wear the traditional green and gold today. I'm putting green streaks in my hair. It was really cool! This was the easiest day, because everyone has at least a little green or gold in their wardrobe. People were putting green stuff in their hair (in cluding me) or wigs, had their faces painted...It was cool. and the rally was fun. The cheerleaders were the best part, with their Michael Jackson routine. And the Junior's float was awesome. Today was cool.
