This website is to help showcase the different services and make it easy to fill out the visitor's information for a German Auto Haus Rep to reach out and meet their needs.
There were different approaches in the creative process when constructing this site. I wanted to create a simple approach to a type of company that would be used by a majority of people but find a different way to connect with a visitor and convert them into customers. I have reviewed multiple car repair/auto part websites and looked at their approach from big box stores to smaller shops. The big box stores have a more modern approach to their websites and the mom & pop shops have a pretty standard website. I went more in the middle of the two with modern forms, classic layouts, add a flyer approach to the pages that have hyperlinks to the contact and schedule to create an appointment; every site interchanging with one another until the visitor will end up at a page where their information is requested. This would be a millenial approach with respect to every generation but, "We are still humans and want to schedule a call to reach out and identify specific car needs."
The site is filled with some graphics but very basic in organization to counterbalance the tone of each page. The intent of the design was to have the classic car color vibe with a cool font that makes it eye catching enough for the user to navigate through. I used graphics and images from stock photos and public gifs to create an eye catching homepage with a storybook style of hyperlinks.Upon peer review, I found helpful the fact that some peers advised: the hyperlinks were not working, the color was a little bit bright, and the font wasn't complimenting well.
I found the fix with what was wrong with my hyperlinks, I have used w3schools to help find ways to tone down the aquamarine and used the color wheel to find different shades to use within the site that was originally planned, and worked on different formatting with my css page that has gon through more revisions than I can remember. Whenever I would get an idea of what I wanted to do with the site, I would reflect back on my notes and use w3schools to make design updates or simply just purge entire formatting of the page. The site did not come out exactly as pictured but I was able to make updates accordingly. I tried to make the site easy to use and with a simple intent of capturing information to create a relationship with the business and the visitor.
There are many improvements that I want for the website but have exhausted my time in experimenting with different formats and functions. For instance: the home page, mobile repair page, and repair and detail page have pages that are far too long but I could not get the columns to work correctly and had to switch to a flyer approach. I wanted to created a drop box for the navigation bar and group the different services together for a cleaner looking navigation bar. Currently the nav bar is set up like a frame which was not my original idea for the aesthetics of the nav bar but had to make some changes in order for the bar tonot organize in random order. The length of the nav bar is too long as well.
I wanted a radial approach to the site and round the edges. I attempted to create the look I was going for but need significant more practice on getting my skill level up to my creative expectations. I want to reorganize some pages and place information in tables to clean up the site and keep the straight forward approach even throughout. I want to learn how to create a capture that does collect information, create pop up pages, and banners. I also want to learn and create a scheduler online to streamline the appointment making process with an always on appointment scheduler.
