The Wind-Rider...a “Lizzie” story (M/f)

chapter 10-a

Aunt La-La had given me this really cool wind-rider for my birthday and I couldn’t wait to use it.  It was this huge kite with a platform on wheels and it had a small pull-along attached to it.  It was to sit on, on the beach, and the wind would pull you.  I didn’t live near a beach, but I was hoping for a real windy day so I could take it to use near the pond at the park.

She had also told me not to take it out unless Uncle Dom, Melinda, or she was with me.  Or if another adult said it was okay.  I sighed.  There were no adults around lately.  Uncle Dominic and Lin was always busy these days planning their wedding.  I was happy they were getting married, but I hardly got to spend any time with them.

I sat on my porch one afternoon watching the cars go by.  Patty and Julie Ann had gone away for the weekend and there wasn’t much to do.  I couldn’t wait til summer.  First grade would be over and Debbie would be home from boarding school.  I was happy because she was going to spend most of the summer with us.

“Hey, Lizzie,” I heard a voice say.

I looked up and saw Shawn.  He was eleven and lived around the corner.  There was an older girl standing with him.  “Hi,” I said, and walked over to them.

“This is my cousin, Lauren, she’s 12.”

“Almost 13,” Lauren said, putting out her hand to shake.  “Hi, Lizzie.”

I smiled.  She was really pretty and had a nice accent.  She had long black hair and green eyes.  “How come you talk like that?” I asked.

Lauren giggled.  “I’m from Italy.  Just visiting Shawn and his mum for a week.”

“Ohhhh,” I said.  “You like to eat pizza?” My teacher, Mrs. Foxxe, had shown us different countries on a map of the world, and we had talked about the foods from each one.

Lauren giggled again and ruffled my hair.  “What’s that?” she asked, pointing to the wind-rider.

I had been sitting with it on the porch; thinking today was such a windy day and would be perfect weather for riding it.  But I also knew that Melinda was busy and Uncle Dom had gone with his best man to the tuxedo store, and wouldn’t be home for hours.

I showed Lauren and Shawn the wind-rider and told them about how it worked.  “That’s so neat, Lizzie, we should try it!” Shawn said, excitedly.

“Yeah!” I said.  After all, I thought, if Shawn and Lauren were with me, it would be like having an adult.  Lauren was almost a teen-ager, like Debbie.  “Come on!” I said, heading toward the park.

“You’ll need your helmet, I think,” Shawn said.

I scrunched up my nose and looked at him.  “Awwww, I don’t need that,” I said.  “That’s for riding my bike.”

Lauren nodded.  “Still, I think it’s a good idea, Lizzie.  Take it anyway,” she said.

I sighed and ran into the garage and got my blue helmet.  I smiled at my blue bicycle and said, “Sorry, I’m not riding you right now.  Maybe later.”

Then I ran to meet them in the front.  I yelled toward the house, “I’m going to the park with Shawn and his cousin!”  I hoped Lin heard me.  I didn’t feel like going into the house.  She was so busy anyway; she probably wouldn’t even know I was gone.

I held both Lauren and Shawn’s hands and they swung me.  It was so fun.  I was giggling like crazy.  We went to the pond and watched the ducks for a few minutes.  The wind had actually picked up a bit and I thought it was so perfect for trying out the kite.

“Come on, let’s go down there, away from all the people,” Shawn suggested.

“Good idea, cuz,” Lauren said, taking my hand.

Shawn held the wind-rider and we walked to a spot where no families were around.  The ducks were on the other side of the pond, and no one would bother us over here.

“Okay, Lizzie, you go first!” Shawn said, pointing to the seat on the platform.  I was so excited that I was finally using my birthday present.  Aunt La-La had given it to me so long ago.  My birthday had been in May and now school was almost out and the wedding was coming up at the end of June.

I took my seat, adjusting the helmet on my head.  I held on to the little handles and Shawn ran along the side pushing me.  I felt the wind take over and pull me along, just like Aunt La-La had said it would.  It felt great.  I was screaming and giggling all at the same time.  Lauren and Shawn were running along beside me, also laughing.

Shawn caught up to me and pulled me to a stop.  Out of breath, he laughed and said, “Wow, Lizzie, you almost went right into the pond!”  I giggled thinking how much I would have scared the ducks.

“Okay, your turn!” I told Shawn.

“Nah, ladies first.  You go, Lauren.”

“Okay,” she said, sitting down where I was.  “Here,” I said, holding out my helmet.  “You can wear this.”

She laughed and said, “Nah, I don’t need that.  Besides, it won’t fit me.”

I hadn’t thought of that.  I put the helmet down on the ground and tried to help Shawn push the wind-rider.  It was too hard, so I just ran along beside it like they had done.  I could hear Lauren screaming and laughing as the wind pushed her along.

Before we knew what had happened, we saw the wind-rider take a turn and was headed for the pond.  “UH OH!” Shawn shouted, running after Lauren.  I ran too. We tried to stop it but it went whoooooosh! right through the water.

I looked at Shawn, not knowing what to do.  Lauren and the wind-rider finally stopped not too far into the pond.  She looked over at us and shook her head.  She wasn’t laughing anymore, and neither were we.  We had no idea what to do.

“Stay here, Lizzie,” Shawn told me.  He took off his shoes and socks and walked to the water’s edge.  He put his feet in and found that it wasn’t very deep.  I breathed a sigh of relief as I realized he was able to walk right out to where Lauren had landed.  She giggled a little as she realized that all she had to do was put her feet down and she could stand.

I threw off my shoes and socks and ran out to them too.  Brrrr!  The water was freezing.

“Lizzie! I told you to stay over by that bench,” Shawn said.

“SO? You came out here, and it wasn’t that deep,” I said.

The three of us walked back to the bench.  Lauren’s shoes and socks were drenched.  My shorts were pretty wet, too.  Shawn was soaked because he had fallen in when the wind-rider tipped over as Lauren was getting off.

“I guess we better go home and change,” Shawn said, reluctantly.

I felt bad because he hadn’t had his turn.  “Wanna turn first?” I asked him.

“Nah, I better not,” he said.  “I don’t want to end up in the water like Lauren did.”

“Okay,” I said, thinking maybe Aunt La-La had been right and this kite was better at the beach.  The duck pond sure smelled bad.

We walked home, Lauren holding my hand, and Shawn holding the wind-rider.  I was still excited because I had gotten to try it, and it sure had been fun.

Shawn helped me put the wind-rider back in the garage.  I returned my blue helmet to the basket hanging off my bike.

“See you later, Lizzie.  We have to go change, and you should too,” Shawn said.

“Okay,” I said.  “Bye!” I said to Lauren.  “It was nice meeting you.”

“You too, cutie,” she said, ruffling my hair again.  I guess kids always got their hair ruffled in Italy.

I went into my house.  Melinda dropped the phone and looked at me.  “Where have you been?” she asked, semi-hysterically.

I looked at her like she was crazy.  “I told you, Lin, I went to the park with Shawn and his cousin.”

“You told me?” she asked.

“Uh huh, I yelled it to you when we was leaving,” I said, heading to my room.

Once there, I stepped out of my shoes and socks and took off my shorts and underwear.  I put them in the hamper and went to get clean, dry clothes.

Melinda put her head into my room.  “Why are you changing, Lizzie?”

I started to wonder if I should tell Melinda the truth.  She might get mad. But then I didn’t want to lie, either.  If I lied and was caught, I’d be in BIG trouble.

“I um, uh,” I started to say.  I put the clean panties and shorts on and just looked up at my sister.

“Did you have an accident?” she asked.

I wondered how she knew that the wind-rider had gone into the pond.  I was about to ask her how, when I realized what she was suggesting.

“Nooooooo!” I yelled.  “I didn’t wet my pants.  I’m no baby! I’m seven!”

“What’s all the yelling?” Uncle Dom asked, peeking into my room.  Now both he and Lin were standing in my doorway.

“Uh, sorry, sir,” I said.  Then I changed the subject.  “Did you get your tux?”

“Sure did.  Wanna see it?”

“Yeah!” I said, running out of my room after Uncle Dom.  He showed the tuxedo to both Melinda and me.  She nodded her approval.  “Wow, it’s real nice,” I said.  I was getting excited again for the wedding.  It was only a few weeks away.

“I’m hungry,” I said.  “Is it dinner time yet?”

“Yeah, hon, I’m starved,” Uncle Dominic said.

Melinda got so busy serving us dinner that she didn’t have time to ask again about where I’d been or why I had had to change.  Every time I thought she was going to bring it up, I steered the conversation in another direction.

The two of them got to talking about seating arrangements and desserts, so I snuck into my room to play.  After they cleaned up, I went back out into the living room.  The excitement I had felt from trying the wind-rider died down, and now I was starting to feel guilty.

Uncle Dominic was sitting in his chair in the living room.  I could smell brownies baking in the kitchen.  “Mmmmmm,” I said.

Uncle Dom smiled.  “Yeah, your sister is baking brownies.  And she’s going to frost them just how I like them,” he told me.  He saw me standing near him looking up.  He patted his lap and I climbed up.

“Uh, Uncle?”

“Yes, Lizzie?” he said, holding me tight.  I really hated to ask, because it felt so good to be snuggled, but I just hadda know.

“Can I ask you a ‘suppose’ question?”

“Sure, sweetie.”

Melinda came into the room then and sat down on the couch next to us.  I reached out to hold her hand.  She took it and squeezed it and smiled at me.

“Suppose I did something that I wasn't aposta do but I didn't get hurt or nothing?”

“And?” Uncle Dominic asked.

“Well, what would happen?” I asked.

“You’d get in trouble,” Lin said.  “Not getting hurt won’t get you out of trouble,” she said knowingly.  “The old ‘but nothing happened’ argument doesn’t work with Dominic.”

“Oh,” I said.  “But maybe it was just a ‘suppose’ question anyway.”

“Maybe?” Lin asked.  “Oh, yeah, by the way, Elizabeth, when did you tell me you were going to the park this afternoon?”

I bit my lip.  “I, well, I, uh, Shawn came by with his cousin.  She’s older, and I yelled to you that I was going.”

“That’s not exactly telling me, is it, Lizzie?”

“No, I guess not, sis.  I’s sorrry!”

“Hmmmm,” Melinda said.  “I have a feeling you better come clean, little sister.  Just what did you do today?”

“And how much older is Shawn’s cousin?” Uncle Dom asked.

I looked down.  It was time to face the music and I wasn’t looking forward to it.  I looked at my big sister and then at my uncle.  They were both waiting for me to spill the beans.

“Lauren’s gonna be 13.  She’s almost a teenager,” I said.  “And we, uh, well, me, Shawn, and Lauren, um well, I don't wanna tell you cuz you might take it way from me.”

“Tell us what you did,” Lin said.

“And tell us NOW,” Uncle said firmly.

I sighed.  There was no way out of this.  “Well, um, member the kite thingie that Aunt La-La gived, I mean, gave me?” I said, smiling.

Uncle Dominic nodded.  So did Lin.

“And member she said I hadda have a grownup with me when I used it?”

“Uh huh.  Go on,” Lin said.

“Well if an 11 and an almost 13 year old were with me, is that close enough?” I asked, although I think I already knew the answer.

“Not even,” Melinda said.  “You know what a grown-up is.”

“You know what that means; you and I have had long talks about that,” Uncle Dominic reminded me.  I cringed at the mention of a long talk.

“But...”

“But what?” Uncle Dom asked.

“But I weared my helmet and I didn't get hurt,” I said.  “A lil wet, but not hurt.”

“How’d you get wet?” Melinda asked, suddenly thinking to herself now she was going to find out the answer to the question she had asked several hours before.

“Well, the kite runned into the water.  Lauren was on it, and me and Shawn hadda help her out.”

“What water? Where?”

“At the pond.  The one in the park,” I explained.

“And that is strike two,” Uncle Dominic said.

Lin jumped up and looked at me.  “You were playing at the pond without an adult?”

“Shawn and Lauren were there.  Put together they’s equal, ummm,” I started to count on my fingers.

“11 and 12 are not grownups, Elizabeth.”

“That doesn’t count at all,” Uncle Dom said.

I frowned.  “But I weared my helmet.”

“Just because you didn't break one rule doesn't get you out of trouble for breaking another one,” my sister told me.

Uncle Dom turned me around to face him.  “Would that helmet have helped you if you were drowning?”

I gulped and shook my head.  “N-n-no, s-sir.”

“No, I didn’t think so.”

“You mad?” I asked.

“I wouldn’t say we were happy with you right now.  You know better,” Lin said.  “But we’re not mad.”

Uncle nodded.  I started to whine.  “But nothing happpppened!”

“I would venture a guess that your Uncle and you are gonna have yet another long talk,” Lin said, standing up.  The timer for the brownies had just gone off.  I wished I was big enough to take them out.  I wanted any reason to leave the room just then.

I slid off Uncle’s lap.  “Nooooo, I not wanna have no long talk.”

“Okay, we won’t talk.  I’ll just blister your tushie.”

I looked at Uncle Dom.  “Nooooo!  If I didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t even know!” I cried.

“And you can forget about using that kite till we tell you differently,” Uncle Dominic told me.

I pouted.  “No, that’s not fair!” I cried.  “Hmmmmph!”

Uncle Dominic reached out and swatted my bottom.  “Owwww!” I cried.  I resisted stamping my foot, but I did manage to push Uncle away and run out of the room.  I went to the back door and ran outside.

Melinda came to the doorway and yelled, “You get your little backside back inside right NOW!”

“I not wanna!” I yelled, running further into the backyard.  I ran to the back gate.

“You come back here, Elizabeth Marie.  RIGHT NOW!” Uncle Dominic shouted.

I started to cry.  Both my sister and uncle were yelling at me.  If I went back into the house, I’d get a spanking.  But if I didn’t go back in, I’d get a bigger spanking.  I stood by the gate trying to decide what to do.

Then Uncle started to count.  I knew if he got to three and I wasn’t there, I’d be dead meat.  “One.....two.....”  I stood there, still unsure.

Then I saw something I didn’t want to see: Uncle Dominic pulled off his belt through the belt loops.  I definitely did not want that, so I ran to him screaming, “Nooooooo! Put it away.  I not want thatttttttt!”

Uncle Dominic grabbed me and went back into the living room.  He put me over his knee and pulled my shorts and panties down.  His hand went in the air and came down sharply on my bottom.  {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!}

I cried and kicked my feet.  This was exactly what I didn’t want to happen.  “Owwwwwwwww!” I cried.

{Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!}

I was crying and wiggling around.  I tried to wriggle off of Uncle’s lap but he held me firmly.

“Don’t you EVER walk away when we’re talking to you, little girl.”

{Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!}

“Owwwwwwwwwwieeeeeee! Yessssssirrrrrr!!!!!!!”

“You know what the rules are, Elizabeth, {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!}

{Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} {Smaaaaack!} and you know what happens when you break those rules, too.”

I was sobbing so hard.  I wanted so badly for this spanking to be over, but it wasn’t.  Because just then it got even worse.

Uncle Dominic picked up his belt.  I hadn’t known it was coming, because he had already taken it off when I was outside.  It was only went I felt the {THHHHHWAAAAACKKKKK!} did I realize what had happened, and then I screamed.

“I don't want to tell you this again. {THHHHHWAAAAACKKKKK!} You DO NOT go anywhere without a grown-up. {THHHHHWAAAAACKKKKK!} Is that clear?”

I was crying hard, but managed to nod, through my tears.  I must have screamed, “Owwww!” a half dozen times.  “Y-y-yes, s-s-sirrrrr!”

Uncle Dom put down the belt and pulled me up onto his lap.  But I wasn’t ready yet.  I pushed him away, sobbing.

“Fine, if that’s how you want it,” he said, putting me down on the couch.

I jumped up, sobbing, and ran to the back door.  But it wouldn’t open.  I looked up and realized Lin had put the safety lock on.  I stood at the door, pounding on it, crying as hard as ever.

My sister was standing there in the kitchen, frosting the brownies.  She looked at me and said, “What is wrong with you?  Where do you think you are going to go?”

“I gonna run away!” I cried.

“Why?” she asked, softly.

I kicked the door.  “I’s gonna go somewheres where there’s no rules!”

My sister came over to me then and knelt down.  She tried to turn me to look at her, but I continued to face the back door.  “To where no one loves you?

To where no one cares about you or takes care of you? Where no one makes brownies for you or has birthday parties for you? A place where you have no room of your own that you got to help paint?”

I was sobbing so hard, that I fell to the floor.  I lay on the floor on my tummy, sobbing.

“Is that what you want, Lizzie?”

I whispered, “N-no.”

“I didn’t think so,” my sister said, leaning to pick me up.  I let her carry me back into the living room.  She sat on the couch and held me tight against her, while I continued to sob.  Lin got a tissue and wiped my nose and eyes with it.

She held me and rocked me until I calmed down.  Then I looked up and saw that Uncle Dominic was sitting next to us.  I put my arms up to him.  He smiled and lifted me into his lap and held me tight to his chest.  I held onto him for dear life and just sobbed my tiny heart out.  I couldn’t remember ever feeling this awful before.

Uncle Dom rocked me in his arms and stroked my hair.  I cried til there were no more tears.  Finally when I thought I could speak, I said, “You’d be happier if I just went away.  I’s too bad.”

But Uncle shook his head.  “No, I'd be very sad if you went away.”

I sniffled and looked up at Uncle.

“Now don’t you think if we wished you’d go away, we’d have let you go just now?” Lin asked.

I looked at my sister.  “Maybe.”

“You remember the last time you packed your bags and said you were running away?”

I shook my head, because I really didn’t remember.  “No.”

“Well, I told you that your Uncle and I would be very sad if you left us, and that we loved you very much.”

“But his hand wouldn’t fall off if I wasn’t here,” I cried.

I saw my sister smile.  “Don’t worry; his hand isn’t going to fall off.”

Uncle Dom shook his hand.  “Yeah, it’s on there pretty tight.”

“If it hasn’t fallen off by now, then it’s on there pretty good,” Lin added.

“You sure?” I asked, trying to pull Uncle Dom’s hand off.  He nodded.

“Trust me,” Melinda said, “it’s on good and tight.”  The two of them winked at each other but I didn’t know why.

“But I’m so bad,” I said.

“We’ve talked about that before too, haven’t we?” my sister asked.  “Tell me what your uncle and I always say when you say you are bad.”

“That I not bad; I just do a bad thing?” I asked.

“That’s right.  And what else?” she queried.

“That you still love me?”

Melinda nodded.  “Exactly.”

“I loves you both, too,” I said, sobbing.  “And I’s sorry I disobeyed and runned from you.”

“It’s because we both love you, that we aren’t going to let you do things that could cause you to be hurt.”

I sighed.  I didn’t think they could ever forgive me.

“And you should respect your Uncle and I enough to not walk or run away when we are talking to you,” she added.

I sobbed and put my head against Uncle Dom’s chest again.  Then I looked up at his face.  “Will you forgive me?”

He nodded and held me tight.  Then he leaned over and kissed my cheek.  It was then I knew I had been forgiven.

I got to eat my brownie that night, with chocolate milk, too.  And I was so glad I was sleeping in my own bed, in my own room.  Rules or no rules.  We had a long talk after I calmed down, about the wind-rider.  But things were not over yet.  Uncle Dom said I still had to tell Aunt La-La about what had happened.  And that, I can tell you right now, was not going to be easy.

I had my chance soon enough, though.  Aunt La-La came back into town just to see me.  I wasn’t sure if this was a good or a bad thing.  Uncle Dom let her into the house and I looked up at her.

“Uh, hi Auntie,” I said.

She already knew what I had done, because Uncle Dominic had made me write her a letter.  She had written me, back, too, and I knew she was not happy.  She said we would have a long, serious talk when she came, because she remembered specifically telling me not to use my wind-rider without a grown-up.  She also said in her letter that she would speak to my uncle about possibly taking it away from me.

I sighed.  I hadn’t even seen it since the day Shawn, Lauren, and I took it to the park.  I don’t know where Uncle Dom put it, but it was nowhere I could find, and I had looked.  Often.

“Hello, Lizzie,” Aunt La-La said.  I looked up as she came closer.  Before I knew it we were alone in the living room.

I watched as Auntie sat down in Uncle’s big recliner.  “Come over here, please, Lizzie.”

I bit my lip and walked over to Aunt La-La slowly.  “Are you very mad at me, Auntie?” I said quietly.

She took both my hands in hers and steered me to stand in front of her.  I looked at the floor, but Aunt La-La picked up my chin and made me look her in the face.

“I’d like you to tell me what happened,” she queried.

“Well, it was a real windy day, and, uh, well I really wanted to try the wind-rider.  When I saw my friend, Shawn, and his big cousin, I told them all about it.  They wanted to try it, too,” I explained.

“I see,” Aunt La-La said.  “Go on.”

I started to whine, because I kinda knew I had no excuse and I knew I was going to end up over her lap anyway.  “I was just gonna try it!  And Shawn was with me.  He’s 11 and his cousin, Lauren? She’s almost a teenager!”

“But were there any grown-ups with you, Lizzie?”

“No, ma’am.  But we was real careful.  Shawn even made me wear my helmet.”

“Did you tell Shawn that you weren’t allowed to use it without a grown-up?”

I looked at the floor again and muttered, “Uh, no, ma’am.”  I fidgeted from foot to foot.  “I didn’t tell Lauren, neither.  And she ended up in the water.”

“I see.”

“Don’t say thattttttttttt!” I cried.  Every time Uncle Dominic said those words, I always ended up over his lap.  I hated the words, ‘I see’.

“Well, I’d like you to tell Shawn you were being disobedient that day.  And I want you to tell him that you’re sorry.”

“Uh, yes, ma’am.”

“Now how did Lauren end up in the water?”

“The wind carried her there.  I didn’t mean for it to happen.”

“Well, I didn’t think you would do that on purpose, Lizzie,” Aunt La-La said.  Then she paused and looked at me.  It was quiet for a long time.  It was making me nervous.  “Did you know how to use the wind-rider?”

“Uh-huh.  I just sat on the platform and held on and let the wind carry me.  And Shawn and Lauren pushed me a little.”

Aunt La-La raised her eyebrows.  “Did you know how to use it safely?”

“I weared my helmet, Auntie.”

“Yes, but had you read the instructions or asked your uncle to read them to you at any point?”

I shook my head.  “No, ma’am.”

“I didn’t think so,” she said, lifting my chin gently and keeping her eyes fixed on my small face.  I was feeling very uncomfortable at this point.

I didn’t know if it would help, but I decided to tell Aunt La-La some things.  “Uncle Dominic and my sister didn’t even know I was using it, Auntie.  I kinda got in trouble for being at the park without them knowing.  But he spanked me for it already.”

“Lizzie, you may have already gotten a spanking from your uncle, but you directly disobeyed me.  You are in very big trouble with me, young lady.”

“Please don’t spank me, Auntie.  I’s sorrry!” I cried.  “Uncle Dominic spanked me very hard.  And he used the belt, too, because I runned from him.”  I was sobbing now.  I guess I sort of knew I wouldn’t get out of this spanking, but I kept trying anyway.  Maybe if Aunt La-La knew how much trouble I had already been in, she would be more lenient with me.

Auntie nodded and pointed toward the corner.  “Go stand there for a few minutes and think about why you are in trouble with me.”

“Nooooo, pleeeeease, Auntie!” I cried.

“Lizzie? Are you arguing with me?”

I shook my head but I still did not move.  Aunt La-La sighed and stood up.  She picked me up and put me in the corner.  Then she pulled my shorts and panties down and gave me one crisp {Smack!} on my bottom.

“I want you to stand here and think about what you did,” Aunt La-La said.  She walked away from me then and went back to sit in the recliner.  I stared after her but then turned to the wall.  I thought back to that day with Shawn and Lauren.  I guess I had known at the time that what I had done was wrong, but it sure had been fun.  I knew, of course, better than to tell Auntie that, though.

After a million years, or maybe it was only ten minutes, Auntie called me out of the corner.  I didn’t have permission to pull up my panties or shorts, so I just shuffled over to her, with them at my ankles.  She pulled me right over her lap.

“Now what did you think about in the corner, Lizzie?”

“That I’s sorry?” I asked.

“I’m sure you are, but that doesn't change the fact that you were very disobedient.”

“Yes, ma’am.  I guess I shouldn’ta taken the kite out without a grown-up.”

“That’s right.  Anything else?” she asked, as she raised her leg so that my bottom was high up in the air.

“That I didn’t listen to you?” I asked, staring at the floor.

“Yes, Lizzie.  I told you specifically not to use that wind-rider without a grown-up with you, and then you went ahead and did it anyway.”  Aunt La-La paused.  “Did you think about anything else just now in the corner?”

“Just that I don’t wanna spanking,” I said.  I thought I could feel Auntie grinning.  “Is that okay that I thought that?”

“Yes, Lizzie.  I’m sure you don’t want another spanking, but you were very naughty.”

“Yes, ma’am.”  I cringed, then, because I realized Aunt La-La had raised her hand up.  I had only ever gotten one really big spanking from her, and I remembered it had hurt a lot.

Auntie brought her hand down on my bottom, firmly and steadily.  {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

I started to cry immediately.  “Owwwwwwwww!”

Aunt La-La kept spanking me.  She also started to lecture.  {Smack!} {Smack!} “I specifically {Smack!} {Smack!} told you {Smack!} {Smack!} not to take the kite out {Smack!} {Smack!} without a grown-up, {Smack!} {Smack!} did I not?” {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Owwwwww, yes ma’am, you did!” I cried.

“And yet {Smack!} {Smack!} you did it anyway, {Smack!} {Smack!} did you not?” {Smack!} {Smack!}

I was kicking my legs and crying hard.  I managed to nod and say, “Yes, ma’am.”

“I call that {Smack!} {Smack!} a complete disregard {Smack!} {Smack!} for my instructions!” {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Yes, Auntie!” I cried, yelling ‘ouch’ as often as her hand smacked my backside.

“You do NOT {Smack!} {Smack!} do whatever you want to, {Smack!} {Smack!} little girl!” {Smack!} {Smack!}

I was sobbing so hard, and moving around, but Auntie held me firmly over her lap.  “But I telled on myself,” I said, sobbing.  “Don’t that count?”

“I expect you {Smack!} {Smack!} to tell on yourself {Smack!} {Smack!} when you're naughty, {Smack!} {Smack!} Lizzie.  If you HADN'T told, {Smack!} {Smack!} then I would have been VERY {Smack!} {Smack!} disappointed,” Aunt La-La said.

“Owwwwwwwwwwww, yes ma’am.  I’s sorrrrrrrrrry!” I cried.  If Uncle Dominic or Melinda heard me howling, they made no effort to come save me.

“Lizzie, {Smack!} {Smack!} NOT telling when you've been naughty {Smack!} {Smack!} is like lying.  Did you know that?” she asked me.

“Yes, ma’am, I guess.  It makes me feel all guilty inside,” I admitted, sobbing.

“It's a lie of omission...which means a lie because you didn't tell something when you knew you should,” Aunt La-La explained, stopping my spanking for a minute.

“Okay, Aunt La-La.  I won’t do it again.  And I’ll always tell.  I promise.”

“I’m only spanking you {Smack!} {Smack!} because I love you, Lizzie.  {Smack!} {Smack!} I told you not to take the kite out {Smack!} {Smack!} without a grown-up {Smack!} {Smack!} because I didn't want you to get hurt.”  {Smack!} {Smack!}

I didn’t know if Aunt La-La was slowing down, or if I was just so numb that I didn’t feel the spanks anymore.  My bottom was on fire and I had cried more than I had in a long time.

“I’m glad you weren’t hurt,” I heard Auntie say.  I think I nodded, but I’m not sure.

“I loves you, too, Auntie, and I’s real sorry,” I heard myself saying.

Auntie stopped spanking me and rubbed my bottom for a minute.  “I’m beginning to doubt my own sense in giving you such a toy.  I will have to talk to my brother about possibly taking it away from you, Lizzie.”

I tried to crane my neck to look up at Aunt La-La.  “He ready taked it away from me, Auntie.  I hasn’t seen it,” I cried.

She just nodded and continued rubbing my bottom.  I hoped my spanking was over.

“I won’t do this again, Auntie, I promise,” I told her.

“No, Lizzie, you certainly will not.  Because if you disobey me again, then next time you’re over my lap, I will have a hairbrush in my hand.  Do I make myself clear?”

“Y-y-yes, ma’am,” I said.  Wow, she spanked so hard with just her hand; I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have her spank me with a hairbrush.

”Good,” Aunt La-La said.  Then she did something I hadn’t expected.  She raised her hand again and started right in on my sit spot.  “I want you to {Smack!} {Smack!} THINK {Smack!} {Smack!} about this spanking {Smack!} {Smack!} the next time {Smack!} {Smack!} you think {Smack!} {Smack!} about deliberately {Smack!} {Smack!} disobeying me, Lizzie.” {Smack!} {Smack!}

I was sobbing so hard that no sound was coming out.

“I am your Auntie and that means that you must do as you are told with me, missy!” Aunt La-La said, finishing with some rapid-fire smacks to my rear.  Her hand didn’t even take a break.

{Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

Finally Auntie stopped spanking me and let me settle over her lap for a few minutes.  I held on for dear life, hiccupping and sniffling.  “I love you and I would never give you an unreasonable rule,” she told me.

“Yes, ma’am,” I said softly.  I was sobbing and couldn’t wait until Auntie picked me up and held me in her arms and finally forgave me.

It happened soon enough.  Aunt La-La lifted me up and held me against her chest.  I held on again and sobbed into her shoulder.  “I think maybe I should spend some more time around here, Lizzie.  What do you think?”

What I thought was that that would be nice if she meant to have fun, and not for spanking, but I didn’t say it.

Aunt La-La pulled me away from her chest and looked into my face.  “Maybe there needs to be a grown-up around all the time before you can be good!”

I looked at her and shook my head.  “I can be good, Auntie.  I can.  I’s 7 now.”  I wasn’t feeling better at all.  I was feeling terrible that I had disappointed my aunt.

Aunt La-La put me back against her and rocked me.  She rubbed the sting out of my bottom and then gently pulled my panties and shorts back up.

I burst into a fresh new wave of tears.  “I’m sooooo sorry, Auntie.  I won’t ever do it again!” I cried.  “I’ll be good.  I promise!”

“It’s okay, baby, it’s all over now,” she said.  “I love you and I forgive you.”

I sighed and nodded my head.  “I loves you, too.”

“You were naughty, but you've paid the price and I know you'll learn from this,” Aunt La-La stated, kissing my forehead.

“I’s sorry you hadda come all the way here just to spank me,” I told her.  “I never gets to see you.  I’s sorry I disobeyed you.”  I hanged my head in shame.

But Auntie picked it up.  “It’s all over now, Lizzie, remember? You’ve been forgiven.  I’m sorry I’m not around very much, baby.  But I’m always there if you need me.  I’m just a phone call away.  All right?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“I’m not cross anymore, Lizzie.  It’s all over.”

I hugged Aunt La-La tight and held onto her.  She held me, too, sensing that I did not want to be let go of.

“Everything all right in there?”

I looked up.  My sister and Uncle Dom were standing in the doorway.

“Yes, we’re fine,” Aunt La-La said.

“Know what, Uncle Dom?” I said.

He came into the room and sat down on the sofa and looked at me.  “What’s that, Lizzie?”

“I think Aunt La-La spanks harder than you do.”

Everyone laughed.  I hoped I wouldn’t have to compare spankings for a long, long time after that.  And I was really happy when I finally got my wind-rider back.

The end.
