Part 1-The Wedding

I couldn’t believe it.  School was finally over and soon it would be the big day.  Melinda and Uncle Dominic’s big day, anyway.  Debbie was home from boarding school and she was spending the summer with us.  Even while Melinda and Uncle were on their honeymoon.  I was so excited.  Aunt La-La was coming to take care of us, and she was bringing her daughter, too.

Lin had taken Debbie and me shopping.  We both got pretty yellow dresses.  I was going to be a flower girl, and Debbie was going to be a junior bridesmaid.  Our other cousins were bridesmaids too, and Melinda’s maid of honor was her best friend, Joan.

The day of the wedding came and I was all dressed up.  Aunt La-La came over early in the morning to drop her stuff off.  She brushed my hair and put yellow ribbons in it.  I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe that was me.  I usually hated wearing dresses, but this was a special occasion.  Even I thought I looked so pretty.

Debbie came into my room and Aunt La-La did her hair, too.  She even let Debbie wear a little make-up.  She looked beautiful.  Her long hair was curled up and she had flowers in her hair.  She could have been the bride.  She also got to carry a beautiful bouquet of pink and red flowers.

The house was so busy that morning.  There were like a million people there; and everyone was coming and going so much.  I didn’t even have time to get into trouble.  I wouldn’t have anyway, not today.  Not the most important day in my sister’s life.  She was so excited, but nervous too.  We all tried to calm her down, but she couldn’t shake the nerves.  She kept saying she was going to cry at the ceremony.

Finally it was time to go.  I ran out of the house with Debbie and got into the limousine.  It was big and black and really long.  It was so cool inside.  Aunt La-La and Debbie got in and then Melinda.  She looked so amazing; I can’t even describe it.

We drove to the catering hall where Melinda and Uncle Dom had picked to have the wedding.  The party was right there too, so no one had to go anywhere else afterwards.  Later on when the wedding was over, Uncle Dom would take my sister to a hotel near the airport.  In the morning they were flying to Hawaii for their honeymoon.

When we got to the catering hall, Aunt La-La led me to a room and we practiced how I would walk down the aisle, throwing the pretty little flower petals on the special carpet.  Then Debbie and Joan and everyone else would walk out, and then finally Melinda.

Soon it was time to start.  I was so excited; I hoped I remembered what I had to do.  Aunt La-La led me to the start of the white carpet and handed me my basket.  “You’ll be fine, Lizzie.  Go on, now.”

I walked just the right way.  I didn’t run or anything.  I dropped the little flowers and smiled at all the people.  When I got to the end, Uncle Dominic picked me up and hugged me tight.  “You did a wonderful job, Elizabeth,” he told me.  He kissed me on the cheek and then set me down.  He told me where to stand.

I looked at Uncle Dominic closely.  He looked real handsome in his tuxedo.  Next to him was Alan, his best friend.  Alan was the best man.  That meant he had to do all the stuff for Uncle Dom.  I waved to Alan and then watched down the aisle.  Debbie was coming down.  Our cousin, Mike, was holding her arm.  They looked good together, even though Mike was much older.

Lots of other girls and men walked down the aisle.  Then Joan walked down by herself, and finally, Melinda.  Our Uncle Bob, who was our mother’s brother, walked her down the aisle.  He was old, but he looked very handsome in his tuxedo, too.  He lifted Lin’s veil, kissed her and then reached out for Uncle Dom, who had walked halfway down the aisle.  I watched as Uncle Dom took Melinda’s hand and they continued up the aisle towards me.

I watched and listened as the Marrying Man started his speech.  “We gather today with God, friends, and family to witness and celebrate Melinda and Dominic, as they begin their journey together as husband and wife.”

It was hard to follow after that, because they did so many toasts and stuff.  There was lots of talking.  Uncle Dom and Melinda had even written their own vows.  They said nice things about each other.  I looked around.  Lots of the people who had come to watch the wedding were crying.  I wondered why.  I mean, no one got spanked or hurt or nothing.  I shrugged.  Grownups: I could never figure them out.

I tried to stand still and listen, but my feet got real tired.  About halfway through the ceremony, I decided to sit down.  No one said anything.  I hoped Melinda and Uncle Dom didn’t get upset.  I didn’t want a spanking at their wedding.

I perked up when the rings came out.  I smiled because Uncle Dom had let me hold them the night before.  They were just plain gold rings but to me they were so pretty.  I watched and listened as they put the rings on each other’s fingers.

Melinda slipped the ring on Uncle’s finger and said, “Take this ring as a symbol of my unending love and your acceptance of the vows we have exchanged as you become my husband.”

Then Uncle Dom said the same thing to her.  I looked around and wondered if they were gonna kiss now.  I don’t like kissing, but they seemed to.

The Marrying Man started to talk again.  He was holding a napkin wrapped around something.  This was my favorite part.  Uncle Dom had told me what was going to happen.  I listened closely.

“We live in a multicultural society where traditions of one group can and often are borrowed and used by another.  In a Jewish wedding ceremony the groom smashes a wine glass under his foot at the end of the ceremony.  There are several schools of thought as to why this is done but the most common one is that the marriage will last until the pieces of the glass can be reassembled. With that tradition in mind, the best man will now place the wine glass here,” he said, handing the napkin covered glass to Alan.

I watched and waited.  Then Uncle Dom did it.  He raised his foot high in the air and brought it stomping down on the napkin.  You could hear glass shattering.  Everyone cheered.  Some people said, “Mazel Tov,” but I didn’t know what that meant.

I wondered again if they were gonna kiss now.  I didn’t have to wonder too long because just then the Marrying Man said, “As you have exchanged vows to each other, pledged yourselves from this day forward, by the power of God and the laws of this state, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”  He took a breath, looked at my sister and uncle and then added, “You may kiss the bride.”

Melinda was crying.  I hoped she didn’t have a boo-boo.  Uncle Dom reached over, pulled my sister into his arms, and gave Melinda one of those big mushy kisses that they only usually did when I wasn’t looking.  But everyone was looking now.  And after they broke away from each other, the whole room stood up and cheered.

After they kissed each other, Uncle Dom came over and held out his hands.  I went over and he scooped me up and hugged me tight.  I hugged my sister too.  He gave Debbie a quick hug and kiss before she had to walk back down the aisle.  Uncle Dom put me down and pointed.  I walked down the aisle too.  All the people were looking at me and smiling.  I think I even heard one old lady say, “Awww, she’s so cute.”

We went to a big party in another room next.  There was lots of food.  I kept eating those little hot dogs and little potato thingies.  Yumm, everything tasted so good.  I got to drink grape juice, too.  The grownups were drinking wine or champagne but I didn’t like that stuff.  Debbie tried to taste the wine but Aunt La-La shook her head no.  I think Debbie knew better than to do it anyway.  She didn’t want to be spanked on this big day either.

We all had a piece of wedding cake.  Melinda had specially ordered little bears all dressed up for the top of the cake.  They were so cute.  Uncle Dom fed my sister cake and didn’t even get it all over her.  She didn’t get it all over him either.  They did a good job.

Finally after lots of eating, drinking, and dancing, came the sad part.  Debbie and me had to say good-bye to Melinda and Uncle Dominic.  Aunt La-La stood by with her daughter, Olivia, waiting to take us home.  I hugged and kissed and cried and hugged them tight again.

“I’s gonna miss you so much,” I said, tears falling down my face.

“We’re going to miss you, too, sweetie.  But we’ll be back before you know it,” Melinda said, trying to wipe my tears away.

“Yes, we will. And besides you’re going to have so much fun with Aunt La-La and Libby, that you won’t even remember we’re gone,” Uncle Dom said, pointing to his sister and niece.

I looked at Libby and smiled.  She was Aunt La-La’s youngest daughter.  She went to college.  Debbie stood next to me and held my hand as I said good-bye one more time.

“Behave yourself while we’re gone, Elizabeth,” Uncle Dom warned me.

“Uh, yessir, I’ll try,” I said.  I mean they was gonna be gone a whole week.  I couldn’t very well promise I wouldn’t get into any trouble.  But I would try.  I knew if I got in trouble while they were away, and Aunt La-La had to spank me, that Uncle Dominic might spank me again when he got home.  I guess it depended on what I did.

Aunt La-La took Debbie’s hands and mine and walked us out to her car.  Debbie had tears in her eyes.  “Aunt Mel looked so pretty.  Didn’t she, Olivia?”

“Yeah, she did.  But Debbie?  Call me Libby, please.  No one calls me Olivia anymore but Momma and Gramma.”

“Okay, cuz,” Debbie said.

I was quiet on the way home.  It sure was going to be weird being at home without Lin and Uncle Dom there.  What were we going to do all week with them gone?

Part 2-The Couch

But time seemed to go by quickly, just like Uncle Dom had said.  I tried to stay outta trouble, but Aunt La-La was so strict.  I seemed to be over her lap every day.

First it was because of my whining that I needed a reminder.  Then one night I wouldn’t go to bed when she told me to, and I got real sassy.  That is a big no-no.  Another day I disobeyed her about going in my friend’s pool.  But I think the worst thing was the last day of the week.

It was Saturday and Melinda and Uncle Dom were due to come home the next day.  I had managed to stay out of trouble for a good three days.  I was pretty proud of myself.  My friend, Julie Ann, came over for a playdate.  We had fun.  We played dress-up, and rode our scooters, and our bikes.  We ran in the sprinkler, and did all kinds of fun stuff.

In the afternoon, Debbie needed something at the mall and Aunt La-La said she would take her.  Aside from a few times of sassing her, Debbie had been mostly good the whole week.  Julie Ann and me did not want to go to the mall, so Aunt La-La said that we could stay home and Olivia could watch us.

It was fun.  We played with Libby.  She was real fun to play with.  She was ‘IT” while we played hide and seek, and she taught us a game called the Tasting Game.  It was neat.  I was blindfolded and then she and Julie Ann put a piece of food in my mouth.  I had to guess what it was.  Then it was Julie Ann’s turn to guess, and we just kept on going.  The trick was that you couldn’t give someone something you wouldn’t eat yourself, so no horseradish or anything gross like that.

After awhile, Libby said, “Girls, I’m kind of hot.  Do you mind if I go upstairs and take a quick shower?”

“No, it’s okay.  We can watch a video,” I said.

“Let’s watch the puppy movie,” Julie Ann said.

I smiled because whenever she came over, we always watched 101 Dalmatians.  “Okay,” I said, going to get it.

Before she went upstairs, Libby gave us each a juice box and put out some potato chips.  We sat and watched the movie.  I started to bounce a little on the couch while watching.  Julie Ann did too.  And before we knew it, we were standing up and jumping up and down on the couch.

I was giggling so hard.  I knew I wasn’t really allowed to jump on the couch, but it was so much fun. Besides Uncle Dominic wasn’t home and wouldn’t be til the next day, and Aunt La-La was at the mall.

Julie Ann stopped and looked at me.  “What’s wrong?” I asked.

She pointed down.  “Your couch isn’t looking too good, Lizzie.”

I followed to where she was pointing.  She was right.  The stuffing was coming out in parts of it, and there was a spring loose.  We tried to push it back in but it wouldn’t go in.  The couch was old.  Melinda kept saying they needed to replace it, but then they never did.

“Let’s break it completely, Jules, that way they’ll HAVE to buy a new one.  Then I can finally say goodbye to this piece of junk,” I said sounding a bit beyond my years.

“Really, Lizzie?  How we gonna do that?”

“I dunno, just keep jumping on it, I guess,” I said.

We both got a ‘naughty’ look in our eyes and started jumping again.  We were jumping so much, like we were going for a gold medal in it or something.  We didn’t even hear the shower stop upstairs, or the door closing, or my cousin coming down.  What we did hear was, “WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TWO DOING?”

Julie Ann and I stopped jumping real fast.  We turned and looked at Libby standing in the doorway.  “Oh, hi,” I said quietly.  “We, um, were, uh, ummm,” I couldn’t go on.

“I know what you were doing, Lizzie.  You were jumping on the couch.  Are you allowed to do that?” Libby asked.

I was going to lie but then what was the point?  So I shook my head no, and sadly looked at the floor.  That’s when I heard the noise.  It was a creaking noise.  Suddenly I felt myself sinking.  Julie Ann jumped off the couch and pulled me down with her.

“OH GOD, Lizzie, we did it!  We really broke the couch!” she said, pointing.

I looked at the couch.  The stuffing was almost completely out now and the springs were real loose.  “Uh oh,” was all I said.

Libby put her hand through her wet hair.  “I can’t believe you two did this.  I only left you alone for what?” She looked at her watch.  “Fifteen minutes.  Look at this couch.  What am I gonna say to Mama? And for that matter, what am I gonna tell Aunt Melinda and Uncle Dominic? They’re gonna kill me!” she shouted.

I looked at Libby and then at Julie Ann.  I didn’t realize big kids worried about what their parents and uncles thought, too.  I didn’t think about getting her into trouble.  But then I started to think about what would happen to ME when Aunt La-La came home, and then when Uncle Dom and Lin came home.  That’s when I started to cry.

Julie Ann started to cry, too.  We had just been having fun.  Sure, we meant to break the couch, but I don’t think either of us really thought about it as being so bad.  It hit us, though, that we were most definitely going to be in a lot of trouble.

Libby sat down on the armchair and looked around the den.  “Okay, think, Libby,” she said to herself, out loud.  She looked at us and we both shrugged.  We didn’t know what to do anymore than she did.

“I can’t let my mama see this,” she told us.  “Cuz then I’ll be in trouble for not watching you better.”

“Too bad we can’t go buy a new couch,” Julie Ann said.

I looked at her like she was crazy.  “Oh, yeah, just go and buy a new one, like it’s that easy!” I said.

“It was just a suggestion, Lizzie,” she said.  “You got any better ideas?”

“No.”

Libby looked at Julie Ann.  “That’s IT!”

“What’s it?” we both asked.

“Come on, girls, we’re going shopping!” she said, jumping up.

We both groaned.  If we had gone shopping with Aunt La-La and Debbie, this wouldn’t have happened.  We most definitely did NOT want to go shopping.

“We’re going to buy a new couch.  Now go put your shoes on, both of you.  I just need to get something.  I’ll only be a second,” Libby said.

She went down the hall to her aunt and uncle’s room.  She and her mama had been staying in their room all week.  Libby knew she had seen his credit card in the top drawer when she had been looking for some bobby pins the day before.  ‘He won’t mind if I borrow this.  After all, it’s for a good cause.’

She went back to the den.  The girls were both sitting on the floor, putting on their shoes.  “Okay, let’s go!” Libby said, grabbing the keys to Melinda’s car.  At least she knew she had permission for that.  Melinda had given her free access to her car while they were away.

They went to several stores, but the couches were too expensive.  The least expensive one they saw was for $800 and there was no way Libby was spending that kind of money, even if it wasn’t her money.  Finally one store suggested they try the Macy’s Clearance Center.

Lizzie and Julie Ann groaned: not another store.  “Come on, it’s the last one.  If we don’t find a couch here, we’ll just have to give up and go home, and face my Mama,” Libby explained.

Lizzie really didn’t want to have to face Aunt La-La either, so she went along with her cousin’s plan, not that she had much choice.  They got to Macy’s Clearance Center and saw a lot of nice couches.

“Oooh, look at this one!” Julie Ann shouted.  “It’s got armchairs and the seats go back.”

Libby came over and looked at the ticket.  “No way! That one costs 750 dollars.  We need to find one for under 500.”

“How bout this one?” I asked, holding up a price tag that said $385.

They both came over to me and looked at the tag and then looked at the couch.  “It’s perfect!” Libby said loudly.  “It’s the right price and it’s a nice color, too.”

After explaining to the salesman that the couch was a surprise for our uncle when he got back from his honeymoon the next day, the salesman agreed to have it delivered that afternoon.  He even said the deliverymen would pull out the old couch for us.  Libby was so relieved.  She only hoped this all happened before her Mama and Debbie were back from the mall.

“Come on, we deserve ice cream!” Libby said.  “My treat!”

She had used Uncle Dom’s credit card in the couch store, but now she paid for the ice cream in cash.  Julie Ann and me got chocolate cones with sprinkles, and it was all over our faces by the time we were finished.  Even though it was boring shopping, we had had a fun time with my cousin, Olivia.

Unfortunately when we got home, the fun ended.  Aunt La-La was already home from the mall with Debbie.  “There you all are!” she shouted.  “Olivia Jaye, where have you been?”

Libby looked at me and I looked at Julie Ann.  None of us knew what to say.  Finally Julie Ann said, “Libby took us out for ice cream, ma’am.”

“Yeah, Mama, the girls and I were hot.”

“I see.  Well next time you go out, please leave me a note.  I was worried sick.”

“Yes, ma’am, I’m sorry, I thought we’d be home before you.”

Aunt La-La shook her head.  “And maybe one of you could explain this,” Aunt La-La said, walking into the den.

I held my breath and followed my aunt into the back room.  The couch looked worse to me now than before we had left.  I gulped and looked away.

Debbie ran in.  “I couldn’t find them but Aunt Mel’s car is back and,” she paused when she saw us.  “Oh, you found them!”

“Hi cuz,” I said quietly.

Debbie looked at the couch and gasped.  “Oh my god!  What happened to the couch?”

Julie Ann and I looked at our feet.  So did Libby.  Even though she hadn’t done the actual breaking of the couch, she knew she was responsible for us.

Aunt La-La sighed.  “Well, Olivia Jaye? Would you like to explain this?”

“Well, Mama, I went to take a shower and when I came back, it looked like this,” she explained.

I felt eyes on me and looked up.  Aunt La-La was staring at me.  And not just staring but she was burning a hole right into my face.  I looked at the floor again.

“Elizabeth Marie, were you jumping on the couch?” she asked.

I didn’t answer.   I was too afraid.

Aunt La-La turned to Julie Ann.  “Julie Ann, were you and Lizzie jumping on the couch?”

Julie Ann took my hand and squeezed it.  I squeezed back.  She nodded at my aunt. “Yes, ma’am.”

“And are you two allowed to jump on the furniture?”

My friend shook her head again.  “No, ma’am.”

“What are we going to do with this?” my aunt shouted.  “We can’t very well leave the couch looking like this for when Melinda and Dominic get home!  Lizzie? Julie Ann? I’m very upset with both of you.  I want you to go to Lizzie’s room and get in separate corners.”

When we didn’t move, she shouted, “NOW!”

We started to run from the room, but then Julie Ann stopped.  Very quietly she said to my aunt, “We buyed a new couch, ma’am.  I’m sure my daddy will help pay for it.”

She started to walk away.  “Wait!” Aunt La-La said.  She turned to us and then looked over at her daughter.  “You bought a new couch? How?”

Olivia continued looking at her feet.  She hadn’t said a word in a while.  Debbie just stood there staring at all of us, listening to every word.  She was probably glad she had been with my aunt and wasn’t in trouble.

“Olivia Jaye, how on earth did you pay for a new couch?”

I watched as Libby pulled from her pocket Uncle Dom’s credit card.  She held it out to her mama.  Debbie gasped.  I watched as Aunt La-La’s eyebrows went all the way up and her mouth turned upside down.  She was frowning big time.

Aunt La-La took the credit card out of Olivia’s hands and looked at it.  “YOU CHARGED THE COUCH TO YOUR UNCLE?”

We all jumped at the shouting of her voice.  As much as Julie Ann and I were in trouble for jumping on the couch, we knew that Olivia was in way deeper trouble.

“Well, young lady?” she uttered, staring at her big daughter.

“Mama, I, uh, well,” Libby started to say.

“Well what?”

“I felt responsible for what Lizzie and Julie Ann did and I didn’t want you to be upset.”

“Not be upset? What do you think I am feeling right now, young lady?” Aunt La-La said, semi-hysterically.  “How much did this new couch cost? And where did you buy it?”

She was firing a million questions at my cousin.  I felt sorta bad for her.  I didn’t know if we should go to my room or not, so I just stood there and waited for more directions.

Aunt La-La put the credit card in her pocket.  She dropped her hands down the side of her and sighed a big sigh.  I cringed.  I hated when grownups sighed; it usually meant trouble.

“I seriously don’t know what to do with you, Olivia Jaye.”  Then she turned toward me.  “Didn’t I tell you two to go to your room, Elizabeth?”

“Uh, yes, ma’am.”  I took my friend’s hand and we ran up the stairs.

I heard Aunt La-La say, “Go to your room, Olivia Jaye, I need to think.”

Libby came down the hall after us.  I reached my arms up to my cousin and she picked me up.  I hugged her real tight and whispered, “I’m sorry.”  She nodded.

About ten minutes later, my door opened.  Julie Ann and me were in separate corners.  We hadn’t talked since we had come into the room.  We didn’t dare.

I heard Aunt La-La come in and sit on the edge of my bed.  “Julie Ann, come here.”

I turned to look as my friend walked over to my aunt.  “Are you allowed to jump on the furniture at your house, young lady?” she asked.

Julie Ann shook her head.  “No, ma’am.  My daddy don’t like me and Patty to do that.”

“Well, what would he say if I told him you thought it would be okay to do here?”

“He’d say to spank me, ma’am,” my friend answered honestly, looking at her feet.

Aunt La-La nodded.  “And that’s just what I intend to do.  When you’re here in this house, you will follow all rules, and especially not do things you know are wrong.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Julie Ann said.

I watched as Aunt La-La pulled Julie Ann over her lap.  She raised her hand and brought it down a million times.  {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Owwwwwwww!” she cried.  “I’m sorrrrrry, ma’am!”

{Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} “You should be, young lady.  {Smack!} {Smack!} That couch was old and already breaking.” {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

“We knowwwwww!” Julie Ann exclaimed.

“Excuse me?” Aunt La-La said.  “What do you mean?”

I quickly turned back to the wall before my aunt saw me watching.  I muttered under my breath.  My friend was gonna tell her our plan to break the couch.  This wasn’t gonna look good for me.

Aunt La-La stood her up.  I turned back to watch.  “We were trying to break the couch, ma’am, so you could get a new one,” she admitted.

“Oh really?” Aunt La-La turned and looked at me.  “Elizabeth Marie, come over here!”  I walked quickly to stand next to my friend.  “Is that true, what your friend just said?”

I started to cry and nodded my head.  ‘Yes, ma’am.  It was so old and cruddy and Melinda kept saying we needed a new one,” I admitted.

Aunt La-La was furious, I could tell.  “Your sister and uncle are not going to be very happy with you when they get home tomorrow, Elizabeth.”

“Y-y-yes, ma’am,” I said sadly.

“Go back to the corner, young lady,” she told me.

I silently walked back to the corner but turned around to see what was happening with my friend.  Aunt La-La had pushed Julie Ann’s shorts and panties down to her ankles and had lifted her over her lap again.

“That {Smack!} {Smack!} was a very naughty thing {Smack!} {Smack!} you and Lizzie did, {Smack!} {Smack!} young lady.  {Smack!} {Smack!} You should never purposely try to break something, {Smack!} {Smack!} no matter how old and broken it may be.  {Smack!} {Smack!} I want you to promise me {Smack!} {Smack!} that nothing {Smack!} {Smack!} like this {Smack!} {Smack!} will ever happen again, {Smack!} {Smack!} either here or at your own house.” {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Owwwwwwwwwww, yes ma’ammmmmmmmmmm!” Julie Ann screamed.  “I’m sorrrrrrrrrrrrry!” she cried.

“Good,” Aunt La-La said, pulling Julie Ann to her feet.  She hugged her close and rubbed her bottom.  “I’m sorry I had to spank you, sweetie.  I know your daddy will be sad, too, but he won’t spank you again.  I will talk to him.  All right?”

Julie Ann nodded and sobbed on Aunt La-La’s chest.  She sniffled.  “I-I-I’m sorrrry, Ms. La-La,” she cried again.

I noticed Aunt La-La was smiling.  She pulled Julie Ann’s shorts and panties up and pulled her into her lap and held her.  “You can call me Aunt La-La, too.  Everyone does.”

Julie Ann smiled.  I turned back to the corner to await my own punishment.  Somehow I had a feeling mine was going to be much worse.

“Lizzie? I’m going to bring Julie Ann home.  I’ll be right back.  Don’t you move from that corner!”

“Yes, Auntie,” I said.

Aunt La-La was back about ten minutes later.  I felt like I had been standing in this stupid corner the whole afternoon.  I always had fun with Julie Ann, but it seemed like at the end of every playdate, one or both of us ended up with a spanking.

“Come here, Elizabeth Marie.”

I walked over to my aunt.  She looked right into my eyes.  I looked away, then down, then up.  I couldn’t look at her.  “Look at me,” she said.  I finally looked at her face.  She was not smiling.

“Tell me why you are getting this spanking,” she queried.

I started to cry full force.  “Because me and Julie Ann were jumping on the couch to make it break on purpose!” I cried.

“That wasn’t such a smart move, my little niece.”

“I know,” I sobbed.

“I’m going to punish you, Elizabeth.  And I have a feeling your sister or your uncle might punish you again when they get home.  This was not a good thing to do.  It was very wrong.  Do you understand that?”

“Yes, Auntie.”

Aunt La-La pushed my panties and shorts down then.  I just kicked them off.  I didn’t want them hanging there.  She pulled me over her lap then and raised her hand.

{Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

“You know much {Smack!} {Smack!} better than this, {Smack!} {Smack!} Elizabeth Marie.  {Smack!} {Smack!} I know {Smack!} {Smack!} you know the rules {Smack!} {Smack!} and jumping on furniture {Smack!} {Smack!} is against those rules.” {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Owwwwwwwwww!” I cried, jumping a little.  Her hand was not taking any rests.  Aunt La-La always spanked fast and furious.

{Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

“That {Smack!} {Smack!} was a very naughty thing {Smack!} {Smack!} you and Julie Ann did, {Smack!} {Smack!} young lady.  {Smack!} {Smack!} You should never purposely try to break something, {Smack!} {Smack!} no matter how old and broken it may be.  {Smack!} {Smack!} I want you to promise me {Smack!} {Smack!} that nothing {Smack!} {Smack!} like this {Smack!} {Smack!} will ever happen again.” {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}

“It won’t, Auntie, I promise!” I cried.

Aunt La-La finished my spanking with a million smacks to my sit spot. {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!} {Smack!}  I knew I’d be feeling this for the rest of the day or longer.

“Owwwwwwwwwwieeeeeeeeeee!” I cried.  “I’m sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrry!”

She stood me up then and took me in her arms.  “Okay, baby, as far as I’m concerned, it is over.  But I told you it may not be over once your sister and uncle hear about it.”

I sobbed on my aunt’s shoulder and held onto her tight.  The more I thought about it, the more convinced I was that my uncle was going to kill me.  Not only had I broken the couch on purpose but also I directly disobeyed him for even jumping in the first place.  He would be so disappointed in me.

Aunt La-La slipped a nightshirt over my head and laid me on my bed on my tummy.  She kissed my forehead and whispered, “I love you, Lizzie.”  I fell asleep thinking about what would happen when my sister and uncle came home.

Part 3-Fake Nails

Lydia (La-La) went to the kitchen after spanking Lizzie.  She didn’t know what to do with herself, with the broken couch, or with her daughter.  Olivia was usually a very good kid.  Well, she wasn’t a kid anymore.  She was almost 22, one more year til she would graduate college.  She usually had a level head on her shoulders, and Lydia was surprised that she had done something like this.

It had been a long time since Lydia had spanked Olivia, but she didn’t really know what else to do.  Should she ground her? Make her pay the money back? Just return the couch? She wasn’t sure.  She decided to leave Olivia in her room for the afternoon while she thought about the mess.

A while later, Lydia was lying on the couch in the living room, not the broken one in the den, when the doorbell rang.  She sat up.  “Now what?” she asked herself.  Lydia was shocked when she got to the door and the Macy’s Delivery Men were there with a new couch.  She guessed she would have to accept delivery; what else was she going to do?

Hearing noises, Debbie came running from her room.  “What’s going on, Auntie?” she asked.

“The new couch is here, apparently,” Aunt La-La replied.  Then she turned her attention on to Debbie.  “And what have you been doing for the past hour?”

“Oh, um,” Debbie put her hands behind her back.

“What are you hiding, Deborah Anne? Let me see.”

Debbie reluctantly put her hands in front of her.  At the end of each nail was an extra tip, painted bright red.  Debbie blushed.  “You like them?”

Aunt La-La looked at Debbie’s nails, looked at the old couch sitting at the curb and the deliverymen setting up the new couch in the den.  She thought her head was going to explode and sat down on a kitchen chair.

“Where did you get those fake nails, Deborah?”

“I got them at the mall today, Auntie.  Aren’t they neat? I’m going to finish painting them red and then put a design on each one.  See, the package comes with decals and glitter and,” Debbie just kept rambling on.

Aunt La-La frowned.  “When did you buy these, Deborah? And how much did they cost?”

“Um, well, the package was only three dollars, ma’am,” Debbie said quickly.

~~~~~~~~~
“HI!” I said real loud.  Both my aunt and cousin jumped and saw me standing there in the kitchen.
“Did you have a good nap, Elizabeth?” Aunt La-La asked.
“Uh huh,” I said.  My aunt frowned.  “I mean, yes, ma’am.”
Aunt La-La opened up her arms and I ran into them.  She held me tight, rubbing my bottom a bit under the big t-shirt I was wearing.  I looked at my cousin’s nails.  “Coooool!” I said.  “I want those!”
“I don’t think so, Lizzie,” Aunt La-La said.  “I’m not even sure I’m going to let Debbie keep those.”
“But Auntie, why not? And besides I already opened up the package and used them.  I can’t take them off now.”  She started to whine, “And they look so prettttty!”
“What looks so pretty?”
We all jumped.  We looked to the front door and saw my sister standing there.  I ran over and jumped into her arms.  “LIN!” I screamed.
“Aunt Mel! What are you doing home today?” Debbie asked.
Aunt La-La put her hand to her forehead.  I think she wasn’t sure them coming home a day early was a good or bad thing.  She looked like she didn’t know what to do first.
Suddenly Uncle Dominic came in.  “What’s the couch doing at the curb?” he asked.
“UNCLE!” Both Debbie and me screamed, running at him.  He hugged Debbie tight and then scooped me up.  I winced and he gave me a look but then hugged me tight to him.
After explaining why they were home a day early and putting their bags in their room, everyone sat down at the dining room table.  Olivia had come out of Lin and Uncle’s room and joined us.
“So, what’s going on around here?” Melinda asked.  Aunt La-La looked at me.  I looked at Libby.  Libby looked at her mama and then Aunt La-La looked at Debbie.
“Excuse me? Couch’s all set up,” one of the men said.
Uncle Dom got up and walked him to the door.  I saw him hand the man some money.  I took a deep breath.  Wait til Uncle Dom heard what went on.  His hand would never rest.
When Uncle Dominic came back to the table, he looked at each of us.  “Okay, who’s going to be the first to tell me what’s going on?”
“I missed you, Uncle,” I said slowly.
He smiled.  “I missed you too, Elizabeth.  Were you a good girl for Aunt La-La while we were gone?”
I shook my head no and looked down.  “NO?” he asked.
I shook my head again.  “Hmmm,” my sister said.  “How about you, Debbie? Did you behave?”
“Mostly, Aunt Mel.  Aunt La-La only had to spank me once.”
Melinda looked at Lizzie.  “How many spankings did you get, little sis?”
“Four,” I said quietly.
“Four? In one week? What on earth did you do?” Uncle Dominic asked.
I started to explain the little spankings I had gotten.  When Uncle Dominic counted three, he looked at me and waited for me to continue.
“The last one was today, sir,” I admitted.
“What happened today?” he asked.
I looked at Olivia.  “Well, uh,” I paused.  I didn’t want to tell her part in all of it.  I didn’t know how to continue.
Debbie took her hands out of her lap and put them on the table.  I think she forgot about her nails.  Then Melinda asked, “Debbie, what do you have on your nails?”
“Oh, uh,” Debbie put them back in her lap.
“I was just trying to find out about those nails when you came in,” Aunt La-La said.  “Debbie and I went to the mall today, and she said she bought them in a store for 3 dollars.  But I don’t remember her buying them.” She turned to my cousin then. “Which store was it again?”
Debbie blushed and turned three shades of red, and looked away.  I knew my cousin was hiding something.  She always got nervous when she knew she was in trouble.  “It was, uh,” she paused and looked at my sister and uncle.
“Answer your aunt, Deborah Anne,” Uncle Dominic said in a stern voice.
I had a feeling Uncle Dominic wished he and my sister were still away.  He knew he had walked into a whole big mess.  He got up then and poured himself a big glass of water.  I watched as he drank it all in one gulp.
I looked at Debbie.  I was glad the pressure was off me for a bit, but I felt bad for her.  I reached over and held her hand.  She squeezed my hand and mouthed ‘thanks’ to me.
“It was that make-up store, ma’am.  You know the one you went to looking for your shampoo?”
Aunt La-La frowned.  “Yes, and they didn’t have it and we left.  I don’t remember you making a purchase there, Deborah.”
My eyes got wide and I looked at my cousin again.  I knew how she got those nails, even if none of the grown-ups did.  My sister stood up then and reached for Debbie’s hand.  “I think you and I should go talk in your room, Debbie.”
Debbie looked at my sister and stood up.  “Uh, yes, ma’am.”  She whispered good luck to me and went with Melinda.  I could tell Aunt La-La was torn between wanting to go with Debbie and Melinda and staying with me and Libby.
Uncle Dominic let out a big breath.  “I’m sure I’ll hear that whole story later.”  He turned to me.  “You were going to tell me what you got your spanking for today, Elizabeth.”
Olivia started coughing then.  We all turned to look at her.  I had forgotten she was even there at the table; she had been so quiet.  Uncle Dom got up and poured Libby a glass of water.  “Thank you, sir,” she said quietly, accepting the water.
“Well?” he asked.  “I’m waiting.”
I opened my mouth and the whole story came tumbling out.  Uncle Dominic was furious with me.  But the worst part was when Olivia told her part in it.
“YOU WHAT?” he shouted.  I noticed Uncle took a lot of deep breaths.  Then he looked at me and my cousin.
“Elizabeth, you go to your room and you wait for me!  OLIVIA JAYE, I want you in my room, NOW!” Uncle Dominic roared.
We both ran to our separate rooms.  This being a ranch house and all on one level, it didn’t take very long.  I thought I could hear my cousin, Debbie, crying in her room, but I wasn’t sure.  Uncle Dominic hadn’t told me to go to the corner, so I quickly lay on my bed, on my tummy.  I was still a little sore from my earlier spanking and I wanted to rest before he came in.  I wondered with all of us in our rooms, where Aunt La-La was.
I heard a door open, and figured that Uncle Dom went to his room first.  I lay on my bed and thought about things; they weren’t good.  Not at all.
Part 4-Lots of Spankings
Dominic walked into his bedroom and saw his niece sitting on the edge of the bed.  He sat down next to her and looked at her.  “What were you thinking?” he asked quietly.
“Well, uh, I was supposed to be watching Lizzie and her friend, sir.  And when they did that to the couch, I felt responsible.”
“So you just took it upon yourself to steal my credit card?”
“I didn’t steal it, Uncle Dominic.  I only borrowed it.”
“Did you have my permission to use it, Olivia?”
Olivia shook her head no.  She felt like a naughty child, but not even realizing just how much trouble she was in.
“Excuse me? I didn’t hear you.”
“No, sir.”
“Don’t you think it would have been appropriate to get my permission first before you, uhm, ‘borrowed’ it, young lady?”
Olivia looked up at her uncle then.  He really was very angry but he was trying hard to stay calm.  He could not believe what he and Melinda had walked into when they arrived home from their honeymoon a day early.
“Yes, Uncle.  I’m sorry, sir.  But if I had your permission, then, well.”  Libby paused.  “The whole idea was to replace the couch before Mama saw what the kids did to it and realized it was all my fault.”  Libby started to cry.
“Olivia Jaye? Do you really think your mother or I would hold you responsible for something that Lizzie and her friend did?”
She nodded.  “I really thought so, sir.”  She looked at her feet.  “I’m sorry I took your credit card and used it without permission, Uncle Dominic.”
“I’m sorry, too, Olivia.  You really were not setting a very good example for your cousin.  I think you need a little lesson in judgment, young lady.”
Olivia looked at her uncle’s face then.  “What do you mean?  You’re not actually thinking of spanking me, are you, sir?”  When he nodded, she sprang to her feet and stared at him.  “NO, YOU CAN’T!”
“Excuse me?”
“You can’t spank me, Uncle Dominic.  I’m not a child; I’m 21 years old.  I’m an adult.”
“What you did today didn’t seem very grown-up, Olivia Jaye.”
Libby shuddered at the full use of her name.  She put her hands on her hips and stared at her uncle.  “Still.  You can’t spank me.  What would my mama think?”
“Your mama gave me this!” Dominic said, holding out a large wooden hairbrush.  Libby gasped.
At that, Dominic moved Libby to the side of the bed and pushed her so that she was bending over it.  He pushed her shorts and panties down too.
“Noooooooo!  You can’t spank me!” Libby yelled.
As an answer, Dominic raised his hand and brought it down hard on his older niece’s bottom.  {Swattttt!} {Swattttt!} {Swattttt!}
It had been a very long time since Libby had been spanked.  She forgot how much it hurt and cried out, “Owwwww!”
{Swattttt!} “I won’t {Swattttt!} have you setting a bad example {Swattttt!} for Lizzie.  {Swattttt!} She gets into enough trouble {Swattttt!} on her own.”  {Swattttt!} {Swattttt!}
“Owwww, yesssir!” Libby cried.
Dominic paused.  Libby was elated; maybe he would realize how ridiculous this was and stop it at once.  “This doesn’t seem to be making much of an impression,” he stated.  He went across the room and came back, holding a white oak paddle.  “Let’s see what this does.”
Libby saw the paddle out of the corner of her eye.  “Noooo, Uncle!”  Suddenly she was wishing he had used her mama’s hairbrush instead.
He raised his arm and brought it down with a large, loud {Whaaackkk!}.
{Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} “Oh yes, much better!” he said.
“Owwwwwwwww!” Libby cried.  “Please stop!”
“I’m not finished yet, young lady.  What you did today was inexcusable!” {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} Dominic paused and looked at his niece’s bottom.  It was quite red and hot to the touch.  {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} {Whaaackkk!} “Are you ever going to do something like this again?”
“Nooooooooo, sirrrrrrrrrrrr, I promiseeeeeeee!” Libby cried.  She couldn’t believe how much this hurt.
“Well, we’re almost done, then.”  Dominic stood Libby up.  She was hysterical.  He put down the paddle and pulled her over his knee.  He locked one leg around hers and took both her hands in his right one to keep them out of the way.  Libby did not think this was a good sign.  She sobbed and tried to catch her breath.
Dominic went right to work on her sitspot.  “I’m going to make sure {SPANK!} you think twice {SPANK!} before you do anything {SPANK!} like this again.  {SPANK!} {SPANK!} What you did {SPANK!} was stealing, {SPANK!} and I {SPANK!} won’t {SPANK!} stand {SPANK!} for it, {SPANK!} Olivia Jaye.” {SPANK!} {SPANK!}
“I’m really sorry, Uncle Dominic.  Doesn’t that help?” she sobbed.
He paused to consider it.  “It helps a little.  A really sore tushie will help more.”
{SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} {SPANK!} Dominic spanked her sit spot and her upper thighs.  He was sure his niece would think many times before trying anything like this again.  Finally he stopped spanking and stood Libby up.
Her modesty gone, Libby ran into his arms like she had when she was a kid and sobbed onto his shoulder.  He smiled and pulled her close to him and rubbed her back and her bottom.
“I’m sorrrrrrry!” she cried.
Dominic nodded.  “I’m sure you are,” he said, cuddling her tight.
Libby sniffled.  “It is a nice couch.  The new one, I mean.”
Her uncle looked down at her.  “Well later after dinner, we can all go sit on it.  And that’s when you can explain to Lizzie what happened to you and why.”
She looked at him like he was crazy.  “No, please don’t make me tell her.”
“You have to.  That way she’ll know it was wrong.”
Libby crossed her arms like a little child would do.  “I don’t want to.”
“You want another trip across my knee?”
“Nooooooo!”
“Watch it, young lady, or you can have some of my belt, too.”
Libby shook her head.  “No, sir, please no more.  I’m sorry I was out of line, Uncle Dominic.”
Dom kissed her cheek, which meant that Libby was forgiven.  He wiped her tears away with his finger.  “You okay now?”
She nodded her head.  “Okay, you pull yourself together, and come on out to the kitchen.  I’ll order a pizza.  I still need to speak to Lizzie.  Then after dinner you’ll tell her what we talked about.  All right?”
Libby knew better than to say anything but yes, so she did, even if she wasn’t happy with it.
Dominic went out to the kitchen.  Lydia sat there reading the paper.  He leaned down and kissed her cheek.  “All done.”
“I’m sorry, Dom.  I would have taken care of things tonight and you wouldn’t have had to deal with this the minute you walked in the door.”
“I still would have had to tomorrow, Lydia.  It’s fine.  Do me a favor and order a couple of pizzas.  I need to go speak to Lizzie.”
“Sure, that’s a good idea.”
“Mel come out of Debbie’s room yet?”
“Nope.  It’s been quiet in there for a while though.  I think they must still be talking.”
“Okay,” Dom said.  He poured himself another glass of water and headed to Lizzie’s room.
Meanwhile in Debbie’s room, Melinda was just staring at her niece.  “I cannot believe this, Deborah Anne.  You just decided to steal those nails because you wanted them?”
“Well, I, uh,” she looked at Melinda, then nodded.  “Uh, yes, ma’am.”
“I know you know better than that.  You have some money.  If you really wanted them, you could have paid for them.”
“But you don’t understand, Aunt Mel!” she whined.
“Well then explain it to me, Deborah, and get that whine out of your voice.  You’re 14 years old, not 7.”
“It was the, well, it was the,” Debbie paused.  How could she explain this to her aunt?  “I kinda wanted to see if I could do it.”
Melinda frowned.  “That makes it much worse, Debbie.  You knew it was wrong to steal and you did it anyway.”  Melinda stated this instead of asking it.  Debbie just nodded.
“I’m afraid I’m going to have to be awfully strict with you.  You’re very lucky that your uncle is busy with your other two cousins, because you know if he were going to spank you, he’d use his belt.”
Debbie looked at her aunt and winced.  She was kind of glad that her uncle was busy, although she felt bad for Lizzie and Libby.  Actually she couldn’t believe that her uncle would actually spank Libby; she was all grown-up.
“Go get me your hairbrush, Deborah,” Melinda stated.
“Oh, Aunt Mel, please don’t spank me,” Debbie said.
“Don’t spank you? You’re not even sorry about what you did!” she shouted, semi-hysterically.  “This is all just a game to you.  I am downright furious, and your bottom is going to pay the price, young lady.  Now get that hairbrush NOW!”
Debbie had never seen her aunt so mad or upset before.  Melinda had only ever spanked Debbie once before, and it had been just a hand spanking.  Debbie knew if Uncle Dominic were in here now, she would be dead meat.  She decided not to push things any further and got up and got the hairbrush.  She handed it to her aunt quietly.
Melinda took a deep breath and tried to calm down.  She knew she shouldn’t spank when angry.  She looked at her niece.  “I don’t ever want to punish you again for something like this.  This is going to hurt me very much to spank you so hard, but I think it’s what you need.”
Debbie didn’t realize yet how sorry she would be.  Right now, her aunt was right; stealing the nails had been a game.  Just the week before she and her friends were talking about how easy stuff like that was.  She stood there waiting for Melinda to give her directions.
Melinda looked deep into Debbie’s eyes.  Debbie just looked away.  Melinda sighed.  “Bend over my lap,” she told her.  Debbie listened, not caring about anything.  “I’m going to wipe that smile off your face, young lady.  You won’t be doing anything like this ever again.”
Once Debbie was over her lap, Melinda pushed down the girl’s shorts and panties.  Debbie made a little gasp but didn’t move.  Melinda raised her hand and brought it down hard on Debbie’s bottom, over and over again.  She didn’t even begin to scold her for a good while.  She just kept peppering that bottom.
{Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!}
“Owwww, Aunt Mel! That hurts!” Debbie yelled.
“It’s supposed to, Deborah.  What you did today was very naughty!”
{Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!}
“Owwwwwwww!” Debbie cried.  She thought this might even be worse than when Uncle Dom spanked her and scolded her.  Melinda wasn’t even saying anything and Debbie was starting to feel just terrible.
{Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!} {Smack!} {SWAT!} {Spank!}
Debbie couldn’t stand it any more.  She started to cry really hard.  “Owwwwwwwwwww, Aunt Mel! I’m sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrry!” she cried.   “Please stop; it hurts!”
“Stop? I’ve only just begun.  I was waiting for you to actually feel bad about what you had done.  I think I’m ready to begin now.”  Melinda picked up the hairbrush and brought it down hard on Debbie’s bottom.  {Whack! Whack!}
Debbie couldn’t believe there was more.  Her warm-up spanking had hurt so much!  She cried and tried to move her buttocks away from the descending hairbrush, but Melinda just kept on going, and holding her firmly in place.
“There is {Whack! Whack!} absolutely {Whack! Whack!} no excuse {Whack! Whack!} for stealing, {Whack! Whack!} Deborah Anne.  {Whack! Whack!} What you did today {Whack! Whack!} was intolerable.  {Whack! Whack!} Your family and I {Whack! Whack!} are not raising you {Whack! Whack!} to be a thief.” {Whack! Whack!}
Debbie listened to her aunt’s words and felt the impact of them, and the hairbrush smacking her bottom.  She actually started to feel really guilty and terrible for what she had done.  “I’m sorrrrrrrrrrrrry, Aunt Mel.  I don’t know what I was thinking of.  Please forgive me!” she cried.
Melinda knew that she had broke through Debbie’s wall and gotten through to her.  Just a few more and it would be all over.  “I don’t ever {Whack! Whack!} want to repeat {Whack! Whack!} this discussion {Whack! Whack!} with you again.  {Whack! Whack!} Is that understood?” {Whack! Whack!}
“Neverrrrrrrrrrr!” Debbie wailed.  “I am so sorrrrrrrrry!!”
“Okay, then,” Melinda said, putting down the hairbrush.  She helped Debbie to her feet and took her in her arms.  Debbie sobbed against her.  Melinda held Debbie tight.  “Boy, you sure can be tough, young lady.”
Debbie nodded.  She was glad her aunt and uncle were home.  For some reason, she just had needed that kind of reassurance that they were there for her, even if it had had a negative undertone.
Melinda held Debbie tight and cuddled her as if she were a small child.  When Debbie was calm again, Melinda looked at her niece and said, “Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll take you back to the store so you can pay for the nails and apologize to the owner.”
“WHAT? OH NO, Aunt Mel, I can’t do that.  I’d be too embarrassed.”
“You weren’t too embarrassed to steal the nails in the first place.”
“I know, but...”
“No buts, unless you’d like to go back over my lap.”
“No, ma’am.  But I really don’t want to,” Debbie whined.
“Doesn’t matter what you want.  It will be done. End of story.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While Debbie thought over her latest problem, Uncle Dominic had come into my room.  “Elizabeth? Turn around please.”

I had been lying on my bed, facing the wall.  I turned around and looked up into Uncle Dom’s face.  He didn’t look mad, just sad.

“I clearly remember telling you to behave while we were gone, Elizabeth.”

“I know, sir.  I meant to, Uncle.  But things just kinda happened.  I didn’t mean to misbehave while you was gone.  I’s sorry!”

“I know you are, sweetie.  But you wouldn’t have gotten in so much trouble if you had tried harder.  Tell me why I’m going to spank you right now.”

“Because I was real bad while you was away, and gotted 4 spankings, and because I jumped on the couch and breaked it.”

“Well basically, yes.  But you weren’t bad, Lizzie.  You did make a lot of bad choices, though, and now you’re going to pay the price for them.  Come here,” he said, patting his lap.

I got down from my bed and quickly bent over his lap.  He pushed my shorts and panties down to my ankles.  I sighed.  My bottom was still sore from earlier.  I stared at the floor.

“I had hoped I wouldn’t have to do this my first night home.”

“Me, too, sir.”

“But I did ask you to behave while I was gone, and you didn’t.  And what you did today was just downright disobedient, young lady.”

Uncle Dominic raised his left hand high in the air and brought it down hard on my bottom.  There was a loud whap and I jumped thirty feet.  {Smack!}

“Ow!” I said.  I knew it had been coming but for some reason it just surprised me anyway.  It hurt too, and he had barely started.

“We have talked {Smack!} about not jumping {Smack!} on furniture {Smack!} so many times, {Smack!} have we not?” {Smack!}

“Yes, sir!” I cried.

“And you knew {Smack!} {Smack!} that couch was on its last legs. {Smack!}  {Smack!} But you and Julie Ann {Smack!} {Smack!} decided to make it ten times worse.  {Smack!} {Smack!} I’m glad Aunt La-La spanked you both for that.”  {Smack!} {Smack!}

“Owwwwwwww!” I cried, wiggling my feet.

“And you did it on purpose! {Smack!} {Smack!}  Elizabeth Marie, {Smack!} {Smack!} I have never {Smack!} {Smack!} been more disappointed in you {Smack!} {Smack!} than I am right now!  {Smack!} {Smack!} You knew much better {Smack!} {Smack!} than to do something like this.” {Smack!} {Smack!}

I felt terrible.  I hated disappointing my uncle, but hearing him actually say it was much worse.

“I’m sorry, Uncle.  I knowed it was wrong.”

“You did? Then why did you do it?” he asked, picking up the hairbrush.

“I don’t know,” I sobbed.  “We just wanted to!”

“That’s not {Whack!} a good enough {Whack!} reason, Elizabeth.  {Whack!} Your sister {Whack!} and I {Whack!} have talked to you {Whack!} many times {Whack!} about doing things {Whack!} anyway {Whack!} even when you know they are wrong.  {Whack!} I’m getting tired {Whack!} of repeating myself {Whack!} about this.” {Whack!} {Whack!} {Whack!}

I felt the difference in spanking implements almost immediately, but didn’t know if I could cry any harder.  I felt awful.  At the time Julie Ann and I had jumped on the couch, I didn’t think what a bad thing we were doing, but now I realized how bad it really was.  I also had made Uncle Dom spank me the minute he walked in from his honeymoon, and he was so disappointed in me.  It was all I could do not to fall off his lap to the floor.  I was so sad.

I cried out.  “I am s-s-s-s-s-soooo s-s-s-s-sorrrrrrrrrry!”

Uncle Dom put down the hairbrush.  He pulled me up onto his lap and held me.  “I didn’t want to have to spank you so hard, Lizzie.”

“I know, Uncle.  I’m sorry I made you do that.  I won’t never disobey you again!” I said.  I meant it at the time, too.

My bottom was on fire, and I reached back to rub it.  Uncle Dom rubbed it too.  “Ouch, hot!” he said, smiling.

“I not ever gonna sit again.”

Uncle Dom laughed.

“Why’s you laffing?”

“Because you’re funny.”

I sniffled.  “I not funny!” I said, resisting adding the word ‘hmmph’.

“Yes, you are.  Because you know you will be able to sit again.  You will be fine in a day or so.”

I frowned.  “Yes, Uncle.  Does you forgive me? I won’t do nothing like this again.  I promise.”

Uncle Dom kissed my cheek.  “I always forgive you, Lizzie.  I love you very much.”

“I loves you too, Uncle, even though you hasta spank me.”

“You know I do it because I love you and want you to learn right from wrong?”

“Yea, I know.”

Uncle Dom held me very tight until I had calmed down.  Then we went into the kitchen and had pizza for dinner.  Me, Debbie, and Libby all sat on cushions, and no one said a word.  Over pizza and soda, Uncle Dom and Melinda told us all about their trip to Hawaii.  They even got us presents, but we had to wait a week til we could get them.

After dinner, we went to the den to try out the new couch.  It really was very nice.  It was too bad that Debbie, Libby, and me were not ready to sit on it though.

“Olivia?”

Libby looked up at Uncle Dom.  “Uh, yes, sir?”

“Don’t you have something to say to Lizzie?”

Without answering him, Libby came over by me and kneeled down.  “Lizzie? What I did today was wrong.  I shouldn’t have used Uncle Dominic’s credit card without his permission.”

Debbie’s eyes opened wide and she looked at my cousin.  “Awww,” she said.  “I thought it was cool, and I wanted you to take me shopping some time.”

“No,” Libby said.  “Using Uncle Dom’s credit card was like stealing.”

“It was?” Debbie asked.  I didn’t say anything.  I just looked at my cousins and waited.

“Yes, it was.  And Uncle Dominic spanked me very hard for doing it.”

“He did?” I asked, shocked.  I didn’t know you could spank a grownup.

“Yes, he did,” Libby said, seriously, shaking her head up and down.

“I got a spanking for stealing today, too,” Debbie admitted.  She told everyone the whole story.  “And tomorrow Aunt Mel is making me go back to the store and apologize to the manager.”

Uncle Dom nodded.  He was glad that his wife had taken care of Debbie.  Right now he was cooling off his hand on a soda can.

“I think everyone learned some big lessons today, huh?” Uncle Dom asked.

“OH yeah, I know I did,” I said loudly.

“What’s that, lil sis?” Melinda asked me.

“NEVER get in trouble while Uncle Dom is away from home,” I said seriously.

Everyone just laughed.

The end.
