| George Harrison was born on February 25th 1943. George grew up in Liverpool England, as did all of the lads. George lived with his mother and Father, and brothers and sisters. George was lucky growing up as most kids were. His family wasn't the wealthest in liverpool nor were they the poorest...they were just right. George did well in his school career...that is until he met Paul McCartney. Mister Harrison was a delitful lad growing up, but as soon as he hit his teens he became {as the old folks would say} 'an angry young boy'. He was just a teenager, and he couldn't help himself...ya know. Instead of killing someone {yeah right} with his anger he decided to try a new hobbie...playing the guitar. He had always admired Chuck Berry and such, and he also found out that it relieved his anger. After awhile he met this older chap named Paul. Paul was a little older than George, and he rode the same bus. George and Paul began talking about music and such, and thats when Paul tould George that he was in a band. George was excited to be friends with someone that was in a band. {You know, people are like that all the time.} Later George played a tune on the guitar for Paul, and Mister McCartney thought he was pretty good at it...so good he asked George to join the band. George said 'yes', but Paul had to ask Johns permission first sense he WAS the leader. John of course said 'well yeah...sure', and as so began the making of The Beatles. Later Ringo arrived, everyone was tired of Pete Best {their drummer before the Beatles}. With this all set, it was perfect. Brian Epstein {a manager} was looking for a band with remarkable talent. One day him and a friend when to the Cavern. The saw the local group playing, and at that instent Brian knew...the were...the...choosen ones. So after their session the lads met Brian. Brian hated the way they dressed so he he made them get hair cuts and new suits. Georges hair cut was refered to as "Arthur". The Beatles soon hit the road. After the Ed S. show, the guys decided to make a film called 'A Hard Days Night'. The Fab Four were deeply excited about this. None of them could act, but the directors favorite 'actor' was George. During the film George met Patti Boyd {who was also in the movie}...George gave Patti his auto-graph and put alot of X's and O's on it. George and Patti were 'in love'. I really never liked Patti...in my opinion "She's a drag, a well known drag..."...those are qoutes from George. George had himself a new dumb blonde. I am sure she was a kind person *rolls eyes*, but the media put terrible things in my mind. Soon Patti Boyd was no longer a Boyd, but a Harrison. Her and George tied the knot. In 1965 The gang decided to make another picture show entitled "Help"...this was one of favorite movies. George wrote two Songs for this movie..."I Need You" and "You Like Me To Much". George's song writing and guitar playing skills had improved greatly from the album "Please, Please Me". George had always wrote songs, and one of his first songs was "Don't Bother Me." He had a tough time asking Paul and John about his songs, because it was mainly Lennon\McCartney songs. George said that he would have to go through and play through ten of Pauls songs before he would even look at Georges song. Also in 1965 he began playing the sitar. He then bought a Ravi Shanker album that had sitar music on it. Then he met Ravi. George and Ravi soon became life long friends. Ravi refered to George as his son. In the album "Rubbersoul" You can hear Georgre Playing the Sitar. One of my favorite songs with the Sitar is "Love You To". Along with the Sitar, he began developing his love for "Hare Krishna". He meditated and such. One adventure the Beatles took was to India, some years later ******************************************************************************** ************************************************************* ********************************************* |
