Frequently Asked Questions About Your Hair And Reccomendations

1)My hair is dry and porous. What should I do to make it more natural?
Try a quality Conditioner from a Salon, and be consistent. Do not use a cheap shampoo (high alkaline) as this will dry your hair and scalp. Take a look at what you are doing to your hair. You can help your dry hair by prevention. The following is a list of potential factors that will dry your hair out. - Excessive Blow drying - Washing too much - - Color & Perms (excessive, incorrect timing, incorrect product selection) - Medication - Swimming (chlorine) - Sun, Wind - Work Environment - excessive Hair Spray

2.) My hair is extremely damaged from Bleach, Coloring and (or) Perming. What can I do? If hair is like cotton candy or almost white from bleaching, your best bet is to start thinking about cutting your hair short. When hair has reached this stage, it is dead hair and very difficult to bring back to life. You can try using a Deep Conditioner (consistently). Also try leaving the Deep Conditioner in your hair...clip a plastic bag around hair (head) .....leave on for about 30-60 minutes...then wash out.

3.) My hair is dry and Frizzy. What do you suggest?
Try some of the following. Leave-in-conditioner, spray-on-conditioner, spray gel. My favorite product to use is Biosilk, which I highly recommend.

4.) What is the best way to straighten my curly hair? Apply Biosilk, then use a Hair Straightening Product (gel based is best) after you wash your hair. Towel dry and remove as much moisture as possible. Then blow dry with a round brush (boar hair bristle, the longer your hair is the bigger diameter of the brush you should use). Take small sections and blow dry with tension on your hair. Make sure section is completely dry before moving to next section. This is a bit of work, but the results are worth it. You can also try a Chemical Hair Relaxer. Makes naturally curly hair straighter and easier to manage. Makes permed hair very straight. Or you can use a Chemical Hair Straightener (thio). This will make most hair, very straight. I only recommend a Professional apply this, because it can ruin your hair if you do not know what you are doing.

5.) My hair is fine and limp. How can I get body? Fine hair looks a lot thicker if it is kept one length and no longer than to the bottom of the neck. You can use volumizing shampoos and a thickening gel for added body. A body wave (perm, big rods) is also helpful, but if you go this way you should add layers to your hair. You can also use Velcro Rollers or hot rollers to add body and curl. This type of hair is extremely difficult to get to hold, as you are well aware of.
