American Idol's been going on for a quite a while now. The Final 30, the Final 10, the Final 8, then 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and now the 'American Idol'.
Tuesday: At the Kodak Center in Hollywood, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini performed 3 songs each. They sang two same ones and the third of their choice. Kelly's voice seriously amazed me, especially in Respect. Justin was superb as well. Judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell said that they think Kelly will win this competition, but Paula Abdul was betting on Justin. Strangely, Randy didn't even mention Justin's name during his opinion.
Wednesday: Again at the Kodak Center, the Final 10 performed many songs together; a few with England Pop-star William Young (he also performed last episode). They showed many auditions of really bad people - who somehow think they can sing - and also some of the Final 10s' auditions. Close to the end, Justin sang with Tamyra, and Kelly with William. Then before announcing who is the American Idol, Kelly sang alone with Justin. The judges then had to say who they think will win. They all said "Kelly."
After, we found out that the Idol beat the runner-up 52% to 48% in votes. Justin? Kelly? Yes, ..., Kelly won. Justin was terribly happy for her. Kelly sang a song which will be her first single, as she cried (so did Simon and the other judges). The judges said their last comments; Justin and Kelly said some last words as well. Kelly's first single will be out soon and her album will be released in October. Wait until next September for the new beginning of A.I. 2003. :)
The Final 3 performed each twice Tuesday last week. The contestants were Kelly, Justin and Nikki McKibbin. Simon told Kelly she's the best in the competition and the judges also said that Justin is at his best. Nikki, on the other hand, is, in my opinion, uncomparable to the other two. So we'll find out who are the Final 2 and who goes home.
Wednesday, the 3 contestants sang one of the songs they sang the night before. Simon told Nikki that America must have her eliminated and it happened. "Nikki... You are... eliminated." It was sad but it had to happen. Next week, Justin and Kelly battle for the recording contract.
The Final 4 performed 2 weeks ago (Tuesday as usual), singing 2 each. The next episode (Wednesday), one of them was going home. The bottom 2 were chosen to be Nikki and Tamyra Gray. Tamyra, who many considered was the best, was eliminated. Everyone was shocked, even the judges. The night before, Simon told her she was World Class. At the beginning of the whole thing, Tamyra was chosen to be in the first seat. It was a tough choice, but Tamyra was surely a lot better than Nikki. Well, America voted... Tamyra to be eliminated.
Well, it is true as Simon said that the Final 3 will be judged with totally different criteria. It is a whole new competition. We were all sure Tamyra would be the American Idol. Randy said that he will do whatever it takes to make her a star. I believe Tamyra will be a true Idol far better than the voted American Idol.
The Final 5 performed 3 weeks ago. They were Tamyra, Justin, Kelly, Nikki and RJ Helton. They were also at the Teen Choice Awards. Then on American Idol, after their performances (the next episode), RJ and Nikki were the bottom 2. Sadly, RJ, who I considered better out of both, was eliminated.
