"...what a stupid brat!..." "...yeah you said it... Kurapika and Killua rule over him big time!!!..." "...he's so innocent...well too innocent... he doesn't know much about the outside world..."

These are some of the things I hear from anti-Gon fans who are probably Killua fans, Kurapika fans, or [the dreaded] Hisoka fans...

I might be biased about my POV here since... well, you guessed it... Gon is my favorite among the four... well, I'm kind of a sucker for the starting roles but Gon is really different...

Gon is not just like any boy, he is an extra-ordinary boy who can sometimes turn the situation upside-down. When you're out of hope, he'll let you change your mind, he'll crack you up when you're sad... and hey... his best friend Killua is a very concrete example! Imagine a boy destined to be an assassin like Killua, has learned to live a life like a normal boy because of Gon because he never gave up even if the odds are too great...

This Kawaii, innocent-looking boy, is a boy who grew up in the remote island of Kujira (dubbed as Whale island for the reason that the island's shaped like a whale) with his aunt Mito and grandmother, was hunting one day when he saw a young kitsune-guma (bear-fox in English) and was almost killed by it's parent, he was saved by a hunter who was in search of Gon's father, Gin Freecs, one of the greatest hunters in the world... This has set out Gon's mission, to be a hunter and find his father...

On the way, he met his friends namely Leorio, Kurapika and Killua and many others, he is WAY too friendly that even that kitsune-guma he found liked him even though it is said that they cannot be tamed.

So, where am I getting here? To all those who dislike Gon, check the facts. First: Killua is better than Gon in fighting skills because Killua was trained when he was 3! (duh... he's an assassin remember...) and Gon never had training but had learned to fight based on his experience so that evens it out... of course on the road, Gon was learning new things too... Second: Gon can't learn about EVERYTHING since he lives in a REMOTE ISLAND and one more thing there weren't much BOOKS there for him to learn, unlike Kurapika who seems to be educated because he constantly reads books. Third: Gon is better in some aspects, like his sense of smell and hearing, they're so sensitive, that in one episode Killua commented: "God! You're like a dog!" and since he had been around animals so much, in one of the hunter exams, Gon was able to distinguish between the two Kirikos when Leorio and Kurapika couldn't tell who was the husband and who was the wife.

So now, just think about it... Gon is as equal as Kurapika and Killua, he has his own unique ability like everyone of us does... so don't judge him just like everyone else... see another point of view before you place the period in your judgement...
