"Hello again! This page comes from Debi's heart. These poems
have all found their way into the Poetry Guild's annual
collection of poems. Two are used in a University's writing class
because they had such an emotional effect on the professor.
Please if you enjoy reading them, let Debi know."

i hold a crystal box in my hand the colors reflected by the light shine and swirl and blend until the perfect shade of love is formed tears of joy, and sadness and longing join with the color and make it deeper still until the perfect shade oh true love is revealed deep inside the crystal box beats a heart so true its owner young and strong and pure though the heat's been shattered, ripped and torn he presented it to this lady fair i took it with honor, i took it with pride i mended , caress it, and showed it such care i cherished his heart and in return i gave him my heart for it too was in tatters and together we've healed and grown and learned of love such love as only a few have found a love with respect and trust and loyalty unbound and i tighten my hold on this precious box and keep it safe from harm for i love its owner with all of my being and i pray he in return loves me.

alone in a dimly lit room, high above the courtyard she sits staring into the looking glass the eyes that stare back at her seem so lifeless she watches has the lids grow heavier she searches the eyes for answers she knows she'll never find she is the queen of an empty kingdom she is the queen of broken dreams she hears the sound of horses's hooves off in the distance the slightest thump thump as they hit the ground she puts her hand to her rising and falling chest she strains to hear it is then she realizes it is her own heart beating it is then she choses to live she turns back to the looking glass she stares into eyes filled with unshed tears she speaks in a whisper "i am a queen...you will not defeat me" she rises and looks toward the sun "i am the queen of an empty kingdom" "i am the queen of broken dreams" "but today i will rule with pride" "today i will begin a new dream" "today i will call my kingdom knightmare"

have you ever tried to examine the mangled mess you've made of your life have you ever fet like a dozen paths were laid before you and you've tried all but the right one you repeatedly go down the same paths because you cant remember which ones you've taken already though you've marked each path with bread crumbs, buttons, ribbons, or stones you lose your way every time you begin again and again but you've discovered that each path intertwines with the others until you are disoriented and totally confused and though you see a light ahead beckoning you continue to follow the twisted , curving, rocky path you've chosen because you are determined to go down it alone, and to solve your life's mazes and riddles without help from those who have gone on before the quest is too important to give up and the rewards are too great but no one ever said you must answer them unaided others were put on the paths to help you and some only to slow you down you must choose wisely...but you are allowed the freedom of choice... you may follow the light, or stay in the dark... the right path is there if you open your heart

she stared out the window her eyes fell upon a sad and lonely knight his armor rusted and in need of repair she hung a purple ribbon from the window and held it lightly between her fingers waiting for the wind to catch it she watched it flutter down and land on the knights shoulder he looked up and quickly caught sight of her sad green eyes they spoke without words, years of tears and pain shared between them he reached up with his hand toward her and she reached down with her hand toward him and in this single act a bond was formed in him born the will to live in her born the strength to survive she returned to the arms of her dying king he returned to the throes of a bloody war the purple ribbon held between his armor and his heart the years passed, and the color faded she stared out the window her eyes fell upon a sad and lonely knight he void of his armor she void of her king the ribbon catching the wind their eyes locked and the bond strengthend she reaches down to him he reaches up to her the purple ribbon lands in her hand she smiles sadly at the knight he smiles back and nods the knight lowers his head and rides on she lowers her head and weeps they both return to their seperate prisons hers the prison of wealth and pacts between kingdoms his the prison of social rank and untitled breeding their secret bond never forgotten their secret love always longed for their secret prayers left unanswered and yet in their hearts they lived, loved and remained forever close, forever together, forever tied by a purple ribbon

i stood alone within the ashes of the human race's dream i searched through the remains of myself for truth and found traces of a lie left untold i searched within myself for beauty and found only a seed i planted it deep beneath the ashes and watched as it tried to grow i saw within its struggle a strength to survive i saw within its leaves a hope for life i saw within its petals a need to love i searched again within myself for signs of rebirth and there hidden deep within my soul a light flashed it was small at first, only a spark and then as the seed had grown, so did the spark, into a burning flame i emerged from the ashes and searched for signs of life and there standing just outside of myself was a man who appeared to be searching within the ashes for me

i wander through the night alone my hand held empty at my side i sometimes look around me and wonder just where it is you hide if love were to suddenly find me would i hear its joyous call or have i grown deaf from my own sighing at the loneliness of it all the stars above seem to mock me shinning and twinkling with life while i struggle down below growing cold with daily strife i wake to find the sun still rises and i realize time is slipping away i hear the clock, its mournful ticking marking the passing of another day i turn on my computer and stare up at its screen the online alert is sounded i smile and grow warm at what is seen your words of caring and encouragement have given me wings with which to fly and now i can say every waking moment "i am doing" instead of "i will try"

castles built on mountains high dragons rule and fairies fly wishes made on stars that shine dreams that make it all seem fine i sometimes wonder if you're like these ships that sail the seven seas chests of treasure, gems and gold heroes, legends and kings of old in my heart i know you are the greatest things i've seen by far
