Membership is open to any person engaged in the work of geology.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP: Any person engaged in the work of geology and are (1) a graduate of an institution of collegiate or university standing, in which he/she has done his/her major work in geology; or (2) if they do not have the required collegiate or university training, but are recognized as a practicing geologist, shall be admitted to active membership when his/her application has been favorably acted upon by the Executive Committee.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: Any person who is a graduate of an institution of collegiate standing in which he/she has done his/her major work in science closely related to or generally associated with geology, or whose technical training is deemed by the Executive Committee to be equivalent thereto, shall be eligible to associate membership. Associates shall enjoy all the privileges of active membership in the Society, save that they shall not hold office, sign application for any class of membership, or vote.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: Any person actively engaged in geological studies at an advanced undergraduate level in an institution of collegiate or university standing is eligible for student membership. Students shall enjoy all the privileges of active membership in the Society, save that they shall not hold office, sign applications for any class of membership, or vote.
