| Beast Master | ||||||||||||||
| Beastmaster (Extra Job) The Beastmaster is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Beastmaster Quest (see below for information on the Beastmaster Quest). Switching to the Beastmaster job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job. The Beastmaster The Beastmaster's job revolves around their ability to tame monsters. A tamed monster becomes the Beastmaster's pet, following the Beastmaster around and attacking their foes upon command. Beastmasters usually tame monster of equal or lower level. While Beastmasters can occasionally tame monsters of higher level, this is unadvisable as these monsters can revert to their wild (hostile) state at unexpected (and inopportune) moments. Beastmasters can command their pets to attack a foe. The pet remains completely loyal to the Beastmaster until (a) the pet dies (b) the maximum duration for control expires or (c) the monster breaks the spell. One of the main uses of a Beastmaster pet is as a Tank. Often, monsters attack the first thing that attacks them. This allows the beastmaster to have their pet absorb a large amount of the damage in a fight while simultaneously keeping their party safer. | Dragoon (Extra Job) The Dragoon is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Dragoon Quest (see below for information on the Dragoon Quest). Switching to the Dragoon job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job. The Dragoon The Dragoons, or the fabled Dragon Knights, are not numerous, but each one is worth an army when it comes to slaying dragons. This is not to say that they are not tough opponents in combat - but their specialization in fighting dragons makes them truly devastating dragon slayers. Some Dragoons only seek out evil dragons in their lairs. Others are not as discriminating, and will fight any dragon that crosses their path. Dragoon's are courageous fighters who have mastered the art of the jumping spear attack. Dragoons can launch themselves high into the air, descending with tremendous force to pierce the hides of even the toughest foes.
