AT THE LITURGY
The Typica: at the Beatitudes the troparia from
the third and sixth Canticles of the Canon of the Saint.
The Lesson
Prokeimenon: Tone 7
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death
of his saints.
V. What shall I render unto the Lord for all
his benefits toward me?
The Reading is from the Epistle of Paul the Apostle
to the Ephesians. (Chapter 5, verses 8-19)
BRETHREN:
Walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness
and righteousness and truth;) proving t is acceptable unto the Lord. And
have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of
them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the
light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith.
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give
thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise,
but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine,
wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your
heart to the Lord.
Alleluia: Tone 1
Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness;
and let thy saints shout for joy.
V. For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired
it for his habitation.
The Gospel
The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according
to Saint Matthew. (Chapter 4:25 to Chapter 5:12)
AT that time: There followed Jesus great multitudes
of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from
Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. And seeing the multitudes, he went up into
a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: and he opened
his mouth, and taught them, saying. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they
shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they
shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the
peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are
they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my name's sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven.
Communion Verse
The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings. Alleluia.

luminary in the last times by thy holy life: wherefore with spiritual rays
thou illuminest the minds of the faithful, O Father Nectarius.
By Christ wast thou glorified in splendour with
the gift of miracles upon thy blessed end: wherefore thy shrine welleth
all manner of healings, O Father, unto the afflicted.
Preserve and shelter thy monastery, O Father
Nectarius, that devoutly honoureth thee; and ever bless the island of Aegina
and the whole of Greece with thy help and succour.
Couplet

singer of thy praise.
